i was clearing the ocean backwash.
a peaceful but tedious job.
the little food hut was just opening up.
lack of customers lining up.
well, there was one at this early hour.
a rarity since i had been hired.
didn't pay close attention to the guy.
just that he wore a lotta black, little white.
didn't bother to say hi.
i was down by the tides.
later on, marissa, the co-owner told me who he was.
dan, the fixer-upper, for all broken stuff.
and her son.
but he hardly came up.
only to check on them, when there was a repair needed.
for holidays sometimes, but he travelled full-time.
lived, experienced, a moving life seeing all the world.
i thought that sounded so beautiful.
i wanted that one day,
i could have that one day.
just had to save up, work hard.
nothing worth it comes without.
but that was now what i had so desired in my heart.
i would ask dan all about it next time he was in town.
