I pick the rabbit up skinning it quickly, checking all around me. Once finished I put the small amount of meat in the small backpack and walk to the woods with the gun in my hand. I swiftly climb a tree with the old shirt I wore. Once at a decent height I continue walking. As I'm walking I'm stopped at an foreign sound. Barking.

I move towards the noise only to find a pack of dogs?

I thought all dogs, cats and domestic animals would be gone. Apparently, I was wrong it was wolves. I watched as two of the wolfs fought. The bigger one somehow losing. Getting a nice bite wound to the neck. I took note of the group how all their fur was black except the biggest. It must have been the omega. I continued walking through the trees until night fall. I lowered myself down slowly.

I walked around for a good 30 minutes trying to find somewhere to camp. I finally decided it wasn't worth the energy and just cleared away some leaves and branches and decided it would be good enough. I sat on the cold, hard ground staring into the distance.

'What could be out there?' I thought to myself.

I always avoided groups. I had one at a time. But getting attached will get you killed. My little brother showed me that.

" Come on Mason it's not going to hurt anything." Greg told me.

"I don't trust them," I whispered under my breath.

"Massy, listen we've been with them for awhile now. It'll be okay." He reassured me.

That was the last time I saw my brother. He never returned. They said he went back for the girl he liked. Tara. Getting attached kills you.

I shivered as a gust of wind went by. I needed warmth.

I gathered the things I would need for a fire. After awhile I somehow managed to get one started. I laid the meat out and wondered if I should eat it. I grabbed a few stones and laid the meat out. I allowed it to cook for awhile before removing it.

I smelled it wondering if it was safe or not. It smelt fine and I took a bite.

It wasn't the best thing in the world but it was something. I was taking small bites and sips of water every now and again.

*Snap*

My eyes shot up towards the noise to meet brown ones.

I looked the beast in the eyes not fearing it.

I was no longer afraid of death.

There wasn't anything to live for. The beast inched closer barring its teeth. It's ears laid back in defense.

The gash on its neck looking nasty. The poor thing looked starved as well.

I slowly grabbed a piece of meat and tossed it towards it. It sniffed it slowly. The continued to inhale it basically. I let out a small laugh and looked at the animal. "So they left you huh?" The animal just growled and starred. I grabbed my bag slowly and took out a bottle of water. I slowly dug a small hole in the dirt to my left and filled it with water.

The animal inched closer, until it was right next to me lapping up the water.

I looked at the giant beast and took in it's beauty. "You know the story of beauty and the beast?" I asked it while laughing to myself.

It looked at me when I spoke.

"Something was going on with this chicks father or whatever and some beast took him I guess. But his daughter went to this beast castle and ended up meeting all these talking objects and fell in love with the beast. But like when she kissed him he turned into this absolutely beautiful man. Maybe if I kiss you you'd turn into a man." I laughed to myself and it seemed as if the beast scoffed.

"You know, I saw you fighting and you took an awful bite to the neck.' The animal laid next to me and starred at the fire. ' You know you shouldn't have been with them. No one that loved you would do that. You know people think being alone makes you lonely, but truly, being surrounded by the wrong people is what makes you lonely. you must have been so lonely.' I grabbed two pieces of meat and laid one by the wolves head. ' But aren't we all. All we are, are just lone wolves in this world. Our packs kicked us out. And now we're searching for a new one." I looked at the wolf and slowly put my hand on it's head. It seemed to lean into my touch almost.

"Maybe all we need is a new pack."
