I slowly sat up wondering how I survived the night. Everything was the way I had left it when I finally fell asleep.
I looked to my left slowly and saw the large wolf. It laid still and snored softly looking peaceful. I put my hand on it's head causing it to jump to full height and growl viciously. I jumped back in shock, my eyes widened in fear.
It slowly stopped growling and laid down. I sighed and stomped out the remains of the fire from last night and gathered my things. I readjusted the gun in my waist band noticing a mark it left. I sighed and started on my way only for the wolf to follow me. I smiled softly to myself feeling slightly better now that I was no longer alone.
Seeing a break in the forest I picked up my speed slightly. I walked out of the forest to a highway. I looked at it in awe. This could be a gold mine. Or a death sentence. I walked up to a little green car off the road and opened the door. A dead man sat in the driver seat with a bullet through his head. I covered my nose as the nasty scent filled my nose. Choking slightly the wolf began growling. I looked back at it and saw it crouched in a defensive form. I looked beyond it where it was looking at. I saw a single biter.
The wolf charged at it leaping onto it, taking it to the ground taking a giant bite out of it's head. I stood in awe once again. Not Believing that a creature could be so smart. I turned my head as I saw it begin to walk back towards me. I walked up to the Highway and began looking through cars. But stopped once I came to a small blue van and opened the door seeing a man and young woman in the front. I looked towards the back seeing a teenage child, a younger one, along with an infant in a car seat.
I shut the door to the car and slowly backed up feeling a huge weight on my shoulders. I sat down slowly and shook my head to myself. "Jesus fucking Christ." I said to myself. This thing has ruined everything. Everything possible. I shook my head once again and stood up. I walked on down the highway not really looking anymore. I'd stop here and there every now any again. But wouldn't find anything useful. I continued on until I came to a camper. I banged my hand against the door and waited a minute. Not hearing anything I opened the door and walked in. It was a nice camper. Something I wouldn't have been able to afford ever. I walked in further and opened a cabinet which had some dog food and treats in it. I looked out the window next to me.
The beast sat there on the road side not looking anywhere in general. I grabbed a large bowl down and emptied 3 cans into it. Then put a few treats into it. I opened another cabinet and there was canned macaroni and canned ravioli, along with corn and green beans. There was 3 of each. I opened the fridge up and saw 2 water bottles a beer and a bottle of southern comfort. I smiled to myself. I took out the 2 waters and poured them into another large bowl. I walked to the door and looked at the beast. It's eyes snapped to me the minute I stepped out. I stood extremely still, watching my every move. I walked close to it and it let out a low growl. I set the food down at my feet along with the water. I walked back to the camper. Once inside I looked out the window. The beast was still looking my way. But slowly his head turned towards the food. He stood up and walked over sniffing it carefully. Then taking a bite. His tail began to wag and his ears stood up in joy. I smiled at that. I sighed and sat on the couch. Maybe I made a new friend. I laughed to myself. I stood up and slowly removed my tank top and threw it on the couch. I stretched popping my back in the process. I groaned slightly. I reached into my bag and grabbed an old Black tee shirt. I took my shoes off and pulled my pants off and put on some shorts. I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. I walked to the door and opened it. The beast was outside next to it. "Come on." I said quietly. The beast looked at me and slowly got up and jumped into the camper. I closed and locked the door, then headed to the back of the camper. I sighed as I laid down. I patted the bed wanting the Beast to come lay next to me. My wish was granted when the large animal jumped onto the bed and laid down with it's head on my shoulder. I slowly pet the beast cautiously not knowing how it'd react. But it just closed it's eyes. I looked at the beast and smiled some. It was nice to have someone after so long.
