Kian pov
I quickly go to my locker and grab my camera before running to film class. It was my favorite class of the day for two reasons:
1. I actually enjoyed it
2. It was the only class where the teacher didn't treat me like an idiot
I was the first one to arrive (as always) and quickly set up shop at a computer in the back corner of the room. I was really excited! Our teacher Mr. Simon gives us weekly video assignments that we present to the class when we finished; each week there was a different theme. Over vacation our assignment had been to create a video with the main theme of light... I was really proud of mine because I worked hard on it.
I had taken a drive to the Hollywood sign told a guard I was doing a school project and they let me put a camera right over the freakin' sign!!! I had been able to take an AMAZING time laps of the sun setting over the city and put the whole thing to music! (The pic above is a scene from his video)
As everyone began to file in I quickly downloaded my video file onto my computer. I was just finishing up when Conner came in...
"Hey man!" he said. Without taking my eyes off my screen I just mumble a quick hey in response.
"That's Kian! He really enjoys filming but he gets into it sometimes... There are days he barely takes his eyes off his work. The only other thing you should know about him is that he plays football...." Conner started talking to someone but I wasn't paying attention to who it was
"You know I can here you right!" I say turning to look at him. as I do my eyes widen... me and Connor normally sit alone in this class since none of our other friends are here; but today he had someone with him... someone I didn't recognize.... The new kid! I give Conner a look and he quickly helps me out.
"Oh sorry... this is Jc" Conner says motioning to the guy...
"Oh! You're the new kid that just transferred here!" I say looking him up and down. He was about to respond when I cut him off.
"So what brings you to our little portion of hell?" I say sarcastically. Jc looks taken aback and Conner gives me a look.
"What??" I say looking at him. "You know it's true!!" He was about to make a comeback when Mr. Simon came in.
"Hello Class!!!" he yelled "Simon says we are going to be looking at your projects so get them ready!!" his eyes settled on Jc.
"Oh you must be my new student! Well you don't have a project so I'll just have Lawely and Franta give you the rundown of what we're doing!" he smiled and walked over to me.
"So Kian do you have something spectacular in store for me today?" (Another reason I like this class... the teacher loves me)
"As always" I respond smiling
"Fantastic! After your through preparing Jc we will start the presentations." He smiled and walked to his desk.
"Okay..." Conner began turning to Jc. "the way things work in this class is that weekly we will be given a theme that we need to do a video on... its different every week depending on time of year and stuff but the point is its always different." He paused thinking. "Anything to add Kian?"
"Yah..." I said still looking at my screen. "You will also be given work in class its normally in pairs so I guess you can just work with me and Conner..." I pause letting this soak in... it's a lot of information. "The computer lab is open after school until three-thirty if you need any help I'm here almost every day"
I added the last part quickly. I stayed here really to just procrastinate from going home to an empty house. Mom always worked late so until she got home it was just me... Jc looked like he was going to say something back but was cut off by Mr. Simon
"Everyone take their seats and turn their attention to the front board, we are starting the presentations!"
As we watched some videos I had to say I was getting nervous... Everyone's were really good. One girl had taken a video of a lightbulb slowly dimming, some guy did a photo montage with pictures of the sun in various stages during the day. My favorite was Connors he had done a time laps like me, but his was of a lit candle slowly melting.
When it was finally my turn I walked up to the front of the class... we were supposed to say the name of our video, show it, ask for questions then sit back down. I set it up on the screen then turned to the class.
"This is called simply "sunset on LA"" I said and nervously played the video.
As it played I watched everyone's reaction and smiled... some people just stared amazed and others mouths were hanging open. Jc was on the edge of his seat...Soon it was over and I stood up
"Does anyone have any questions?" almost every hand went up.
After I finished answering everyone I sat down only to have the bell ring. After being congratulated by the teacher I started packing to leave. I was almost done when Jc came up to me.
"Your video was amazing" he said smiling and left before I could respond.
"Hmmm... maybe he isn't a bad guy after all... we'll see" I think to myself and start walking to my next class
