I feel as if someone is following me as I head towards 5th period. Besides the crowd of people whispering about me, that is. Someone grabs my arm hard, and I feel my head get slammed into a locker.
"Hey, Vikk," Ryan says in my face.
"Hi," I reply casually.
"How has your day been?"
"Pretty good." He cracks his knuckles.
"Well, that's gonna change," He smirks. Mitch, Jerome, and a few other boys show up. Mitch gives me a pitiful look while Jerome shoots me an apologetic smile. Ryan punches me hard in the ribs, and I yelp in pain. I've heard of how hard he could punch, but it's nothing compared to actually feeling it. Someone else punches the side of my head, and I fall. Everything hurts as they kick me. I notice Jerome looks like he's about to cry as he stands back, and Mitch whispering for Ryan to stop.
"Hope you learned your lesson, bitch," Ryan spits when the second bell rings.
"I don't know what makes me a female dog," I retort weakly.
"Do you want me to cut off your smartass mouth?" He growls.
"Then, I won't be able to come up with comebacks that you can't respond to," I say. He kicks my head, and I groan.
"That's what I thought. Come on, guys," He tells Mitch and Jerome, who were the only people left. Jerome rubs his eyes and follows him. Mitch helps me sit up.
"Sorry, Vikk. I gotta go," He whispers. Ryan barks something angrily at Mitch, and he leaves. I lean against the locker for a bit longer before heading towards class.
"Barns, why are you late?" Mr. Micheals asks.
"Sorry, sir. My locker got jammed," I mumble.
"That's what they all say. Take a seat." I sit down next to Brandon.
"Dude, what happened? I was gonna ask to go to the bathroom to look for you," Brandon whispers.
"Stuff. I'll tell you about it later."
"Hey, do you know you have a bruise on the side of your head?" He asks.
"Yeah, I noticed. Thanks."
"What's with Vikk getting beat up lately?" He asks. We both chuckle, despite my head hurting like hell.
"Brandon! Vikk! Pay attention!" Mr. Micheals yells. "Especially you, Vikk! You missed half the lesson!"
"We all know you're just saying that cause you love Brandon!" Someone shouts from the back of the class. All heads turn to the boy who said that. Lachlan.
"Excuse me?" Mr. Micheals asks.
"You heard what I said. You pick favorites in every class!" Lachlan replies.
"To detention!" Mr. Micheals yells and points at the door.
"Whatever. At least the principle doesn't like one student over the other. He only hates some of us more," Lachlan says.
"Now!" Lachlan picks up his backpack and leaves.
"That was hilarious," Brandon snickers once the class settled down.
"That was pretty funny," I agree.
"You're just saying that because you don't like Lachlan."
"I know."
"He was defending you, y'know." I glance at him.
"He was not."
"Was too."
"Not. Why would he defend me?"
"Lachlan and Vikk sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-"
"Fuck off," I tell Brandon.
"You know it's true, and mind your language young man."
"It isn't. It might be true for him, but let's not forget my deep hatred for the guy."
"Whatever. I ship it," Brandon smirks.
"What does that even mean? Can I say I boat it?" [A fangirl explaining the physics to an idiot... PS first A/N!]I ask.
"You're such a literal person, Vikk," Brandon sighs. I shrug.
"Whose are we meeting at today?" I question, changing the subject.
"Mine," Brandon informs.
"Sorry, forgot."
"S'okay, Vikk. I forget sometimes too."
"I don't believe it," I reply.
"Why not?"
"Teacher's pet, school's biggest nerd, remembers everything."
"Shut up."
"Now you know how I felt."
"Vikk and Lachlan sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love..." I block out Brandon and focus on my paper.
Is it true? Does Lachlan like me?
