‘No.’ He told himself constantly. ‘No, no no.’ He didn’t believe he could feel this way for her. A mudblood. The type of person his family, his father, disapproved of. He had been denying his feelings for years but he knew she saw straight through him. She was smart how could she not? She told him it was his eyes that gave it away, the way he looked at her, even when he thought she wasn’t looking. She has been trying to get him to open up since their first encounter but Draco wouldn’t. He couldn’t. A Slytherin and a Gryffindor? Was she insane? No, she was beautiful, her know it all attitude made her feisty and Draco loved that. He loved to challenge her when he could. He loved her. Did he just say that? No, no of course he didn’t. Wait….He sighed….Yes, yes he did. Damn. Why was Granger always right? He would find her this evening.

Evening came and as always Draco found her sitting where she always sat for peace and quiet. By a tree on the edge of the forest. He cleared his throat. ‘Hi-‘ ‘-Hello Malfoy’ She said at the same time. She looked up from her book and smiled at him. He had a feeling she knew exactly why he was here and was probably expecting him one of these days. ‘Sit. Before someone notices you’re here.’ She giggled. That laugh. He smiled with her. Draco sat beside her and took the book from her hands. ‘Interesting read.’ He said, trying to sound intelligent. ‘You have never touched that book, I know you haven’t.’ She gave a half smile that lit Draco’s heart. ‘You got me.’ He chuckled. Hermione placed her hands in his and spoke softly. ‘I know why you’re here. There would ever be only one reason.’ She looked him directly in the eyes. He got lost in them, they were a beautiful brown, and he could stare into them all day. He shook himself into focus. ‘Er…Yeah, one reason. I guess I don’t need to say it then? If you already know.’ She laughed. ‘No, I may know but it’s nice to hear.’ She grinned, waiting. Draco held onto her hands tight and said in a confident voice. ‘Hermione Jean Granger. I don’t care what my family thinks. I don’t care what my friends think. You are beautiful and I’m sorry I haven’t said this before but I love you. I Draco Malfoy love you.’ She pulled him in close. ‘I love you too.’ She whispered before the pair shared a passionate kiss under moonlight.
