"I can't believe my brother is making me go shopping." Clary muttered as they stood in front of a giant mall.

"We're going to be in New York for two weeks, you'll thank me later." Jonathan replied.

He walked into the mall, Clary following hesitantly behind.

If the mall seemed big on the outside, somehow it seemed way bigger in the inside. There were clothing shops everywhere, for everything.

So much stuff, so crowded. Clary was used to staying at home all day, every day, and this was a lot to take in.
Jonathan turned around and looked at her. "You coming?"

All she could do was nod. He lead her to a large clothing store, and headed straight for swim stuff.

Clary looked at the racks of girl swimsuits. They were all bikinis, unless you count the toddler size one pieces.

Clary made a face. She'd never owned a bikini, or even worn one. She always wore one pieces or tank kinis.

Reluctantly, she pulled a few of the least revealing bikinis off the rack and went in the changing room.

After getting in the first one, Clary examined herself in the mirror. It was dark green that faded to gold then black at the sides. She heard a knock on the door.

"Someone's in here!" She called.

"I know." Jonathan called back. "Let me see the suit."

Clary unlocked the door and stepped out.

Jonathan looked her over with his black eyes.

"Ok, anything else you wanted?" he asked.

"Wait, what?"

"Is there anything you want besides that swimsuit?" He asked again.

"I never said I wanted this one!" Clary objected.

"Too bad. You are getting that one."

"But-"

"No 'buts'. We can shop for a while longer for other things, but you are getting that suit." Jonathan said, in a rather bossy manner.

Clary went back in the changing room and got back into her clothes.

She got out and walked to another section of the store. 'perfect' she thought evilly as she plucked the shirt off the rack.

"What are you doing?" Jonathan asked.

"Getting dad his birthday present, of course." She said proudly. She held back the shirt to examine it better. It was a bright pink t-shirt with hearts every where. And in purple print it read, 'BE MY VALENTINE'.

Apparently, mundanes celebrated a 'love holiday' called Valentine's day.
Jonathan smirked. "Oh, dad will just love that."

"It's perfect." Clary said, grinning like a madman.

"Yeah... Ok, let's check out." Jonathan replied with a raised eyebrow.

"Yep." Clary agreed happily.

They paid and left quickly.

Once they left the mall, they hailed a taxi and asked to be taken to the nearest beach.

Thankfully, the beach wasn't too crowded or even that expensive. Clary went to the ladies room and quickly changed into the new bathing suit.
She felt exposed as she walked out of the bathroom wearing just a bikini.
Jonathan was waiting on the beach for her. He had changed into swim trunks that where completely black except for a large white cross bone on the left leg.
