"Kaun? Aapke sath hain kya woh?" Santu asked.
"Ek minute! Shanti," she called Shanti, who was dusting in the record room.
"Ji maddam," Shanti asked looking confused just like the other thana members.
"Shanti tum Hume kuch batane ki kaushish kar rahi thi na kal?" Karishma tried to make her remember. Now things got little clear for everyone. They remembered how she was trying to tell something but everyone thought she was asking for her salary so they ignored her plea.
"Woh maddam..." Shanti looked little hesitant, "mujhe samajh nahi aa raha main kaise kahu...."
"Shanti!" Haseena came forward and placed her hand on her shoulder, "Jo bhi pareshani haihume bejhijhak batao, hum tumhari madad karenge, yeh humara vada hai tumse." She said in a soothing and reassuring manner.
This helped in gaining confidence of Shanti, she looked around and found the whole team looking keen to help. For the first time she felt like someone is there to save her from injustice and the mental torture she was going from last some months.
"Maddam sir! Main pet se hun, chautha mahina chal raha hai. Pahle bhi do baar maa ban chuki hun, dono baar ladki hui. Isliye is baar mere pati aur saas bachhe ka gender test karwana chahte hain aur agar is baar bhi ladki hui to...." Shanti couldn't hold her tears and break down. Pushpa ji made her sit.
"Santu! Paani!"
"Thank you Pushpa ji! Bahut der se pyas lag rahi thi." Santu exclaimed like she was waiting for someone to say this. Pushpa ji grabbed the glass of water before Santu can drink.
"Yeh masumiyat kisi din humari jaan na lele." Cheetah said keeping palm under his chin, overwhelmed by too much masumiyat.
"Kaho to abhi goli se uda de?" Karishma muttered.
"Sorry madam." Cheetah straighten himself.
"To Shanti tum complaint darj karvao." Haseena spoke," Phir hum dekhte hain ki tumhe tumhare hone wale bacche se kon alag karta hai."
"Nahi maddam." Shanti panicked a little," Main complaint nahi likha sakte, main meri basi basai grahsti barbad nahi karna chahti."
"Lekin Shanti bina report ke hum bhi tumhari madad nahi kar payenge, tum baat ko samjho." Pushpa ji tried to make her understand.
"Nahi madam please main report nahi likhe sakti."
Pushpa ji tried to say further but Haseena gestured to not. So she didn't say anything.
"Koi baat nahi. Hum tumhari madad karenge chahe FIR ho ya na ho." Haseena have her confidence," Tum itminaan se ghar jao."
"Shukriya maddam." Shanti said and leave.
"Maddam sir aapne use aise kaise Jane diya bina FIR ke?"
"Pushpa ji woh pahle se hi itne pressure mein hai. Hume us par aur dabav banana thik nahi laga."
"Woh to thik hai maddam sir lekin hum yeh karenge kaise? Bina FIR ke hum officially to investigate hi nahi kar sakte." Karishma put forward her view.
"Dekhte hain. Koi na koi plan to bana hi lenge. Lekin abhi aap ghar jaiye. Aapko aaram ki sakht zaroorat hai.":
"Lekin maddam sir..."
"It's an order." Haseena ordered straight forwardly. Karishma didn't argue any further as she knew she has done the night shift after a full day duty, so she can not work with efficiency without a good sleep. She saluted Haseena and walked out of the station.
