Chapter 2- New People And New Scenery

'Just accept what life has thrown at you and face it'

Ally's POV

"Ally, come on the cars gonna be here any minute" my mother yells from down stairs.
"Yeah coming mother" I yell back as I drag my duffel bag that contains basically all I own. My clothes, my photo of my mother and my camera my mother got for my birthday. My only pair of shoes are on my feet and I'm wearing my best clothes, a white cashmere sweater, a pair of black skinny jeans, my red high tops, a t-shirt that says I love books and a black beanie.

I placed my bag by the door and smiled at my mother. She started to tear up. "Oh sweetie I'm gonna miss you so much" she whimpered. I hugged her and rubbed her back. I looked at the clock and said "momma I gotta go, I gotta meet the gang at the square to go. I love you" I haven't Called her momma in years. She nodded and waved me off. I walked to the square and saw May, Jack and Henry loading their bags into a limo. I placed my bag into the boot. I look May in the eye and she gives me a scared look. Neither of us know what to do or what to expect.

"Hurry up, we have a schedule to run on" says the driver. We hurry up and get in the car. The interior is very fancy and spacious but we stay huddled together. The driver gives us a disgusted look and turns away to drive. He winds up the window that separates us.

I look at everyone and whisper "guys what are we gonna do, if everyone's like the driver we are gonna be the most hated people in the Isle" they nodded. Jack whispered back "at least we will have each other" we leaned against each other and before I knew it I was asleep.

I woke up to Henry shaking me awake. "Ally, Ally, time to wake up, we are crossing the fence now" he whispered in fear of angering the driver. I looked at May and then out the window. We were surrounded by dust and sand. I looked forward a little the fence came into view. I gaped at it. I had never seen the fence, I only knew it was there. I looked at everyone and they were also gaping. The car stopped and our door opened. A guard looked in and said "names". "Ally Brichart" "Jack Oculus" "Henry Haddom" "May-Anne Dubrey" he checked our names off and nodded to the driver.

The car started driving again and I looked at Jack. He smiled softly at me and said "Ally what's gonna happen if we don't fit in?" It broke my heart, he looked so vulnerable and childlike. Jack was like the baby in our group. He was the youngest but definitely the tallest.

I said to him "I have no idea, I just don't wanna find out, if we're lucky we might be sent back home instead". He nodded and looked out the window.

After another 20 minutes I saw forest and beyond that I saw the top of what looked like a building. Several actually. As we got through the forest we were surrounded by tall buildings and fancy streets. Shops and lovely people dressed nicely were every where. I felt dirty compared to them and I was dressed in my best clothes.

Then we pulled into a street that lead up to a building with giant metal gates. The sign post said 'Riches High'. Creative and snobbish I thought sarcastically. Ours was much more creative than theirs, Lincoln High, named after Abraham Lincoln. They are so up themselves. As we pulled up around a massive fountain we saw three people standing at the entrance to the building. A man and a woman and a guy who looked a lot like their son, they were probably related.

We opened the door once we stopped and I got out first. The driver picked up our bags and dumped them before bowing and driving off, flicking stones all over us. "So are the rest if your bags in another car" asked the lady nicely. We all looked at one another. "No mam, this is all we have" replied Henry timidly. She looked shocked. To be honest what did she expect? We were from the Isle of the poor. We had basically nothing at home except what we wore and what little we ate. The only reason we wore the nice clothes we have now is because our laments decided to spend as much money as possible on what we wore to the place.

The man walked up to us and said "hello, I'm Timothy, this is my wife Katy, and my son Jace. What are your guys names". He said it very softly, almost like he was afraid he would scare us off.

" I'm May, This is Ally, Henry and Jack" she said gesturing to us. We picked up our small bags and waited for further instructions. 'Ok follow us" Timothy said. We followed him up the marble steps and into the building. In side there was a chandelier and stairs, spiral staircases. With large banisters. Imagine sliding down those. It's probably pro hinted so I won't, until late at night anyhow. We climbed the stairs and turned down a few halls to where Timothy said "this is your room, we usually do four to a room and it has everything you should need" he opened the door and we gaped in awe.

This room was amazing. What we could see was a large living area, with a TV and some weird box things and lots of small rectangle cases. Huh I will investigate those later. There was a spacious kitchen with a large fridge and a table we could sit at to eat. "I will leave Jace here with you to explain how everything works" Timothy said then him and Katy were out the door and gone.

"Ok guys, that's the bedroom over there, the bathroom, and your fridge and freezer are already stocked for you so yeah, umm your schedules are very easy to understand, this is the class and where it is. So any question" jace said. We did t say anything. "Ok well I'm gonna go, see you guys tomorrow, classes start at 8 am by the way" then he left.

Oh damn here we go.......
