Chapter 4- Lunch time and new hangouts
'Normality leads to sadness'
~Phil LesterAlly's POV
You know those moments in movies where the new kids walk into the cafeteria and everybody sits in those cliche groupings? And the new kids look around and feel as though they really don't fit in anywhere? Yeah that's how I was feeling right at this very moment.
Then to make matters worse, as we stood in the line to get our food that totally cliche moment happens. Yeah the one where the hot bad boys walk in and everybody goes silent and moves to let them cut the line. Yeah that one.
Jayden and his 'mates' stopped in front of us and looked at us expectantly. May, Henry and Jack all moved but I stayed rooted to my spot. Jayden raised an eyebrow in a silent challenge. I raised mine back. I then noticed the cafeteria was silent, all staring at us. I rolled my eyes at a group of girls, who looked like the slutty cheerleader clique, who were glaring at us. I looked back at Jayden who is staring at me in amusement. I narrow my eyes and get my food. I then walk away with my head held high.
Unfortunately I didn't see the girl who stuck her foot out and I tripped. My food was in containers though and didn't splat everywhere like that cliche moment in the movies. I looked at the girl from my spot on the ground and I instantly didn't like her. She's that stereotypical blonde head cheerleader chick. Yeah that one. I'm gonna call her ponytail blonde.
"Um excuse me, watch where your walking poor girl" she sneered. "I'm gonna have to wash the poor germs off me now" she complained. I looked back at my friends who were staring with their mouths open, except May, who was being held back by Henry, who was trying to stop her from storming over here to rip out ponytail blondes hair. I looked back at ponytail blonde and said "ewwww prissy germs, I should wash them off" in a whiny voice. I stood up and faced her. She stood up and looked down at me considering I'm like 5"3 and she's easily 5"9 and said "do you know who I am"? "Yeah, a prissy blonde daddy's girl, who can't do anything for herself, and God forbid you actually admit you've done something wrong or say sorry" I retorted. "I can crush you and your little group like a bug" she sneered. "Ooh my bunny slippers just ran for cover" I said back in a fake quivering voice. I turned and walked away with my friends following me when she yelled "yeah walk away loser, go back to your poor shit hole". I turned just before I walked out the door and said "isn't it rather dangerous for one to use their entire vocabulary in one sentence" . She spluttered to come back with a good reply when I glanced over at Jayden, who was trying to hide his chuckles. He looked at me and winked. I winked back and strut out the door to go find Jaycee.
-----------
"Hey guys over here" Jaycee called waving his arms from on the bleachers. We walked over to him and he beamed at us. "Hi Jaycee, this is May and Henry. You already know Ally and me of course, how was your second period?" Jack asked sitting down next to Jaycee. Quite close might I add. I smirked at Jaycee and he just shook his head.
"Second period was great, I had home economics and we made cookies, here try one." He held out a container filled with iced biscuits. "These are amazing, we never really got things like this back home" May said.
Jaycee looked at us sadly and said "I don't want to offend you but what is it like on the other side" "well, the houses suck, the streets are dirty and the shops are literally a shack with a few supplies here and there, we never had a childhood toy or teddy, most of us knew both our parents except for Ally, who's father took off when her mother was pregnant with her, yeah that's just the top of the pie of our lives" May said. Jaycee looked sorry he asked.
"Sorry for snapping Jaycee, it's just coming here and seeing all this fancy stuff you guys have, and then realising very thing we ever had back home was basically a hand me down from you guys is kinda disheartening" may said apologetically.
"It's ok, I may not understand what it's like but I really like you guys" Jaycee said. We sat and ate the rest of our lunches when we heard loud obnoxious laughter coming towards our area. Jaycee looked up in fear. "Who are they" Henry asked. "My bullies." He replied softly.
The boys walked up the bleachers and said "hey look faggots got some new gay pals'.
There were about four guys, who wore letterman jackets and looked like your typical a-grade ass hole jocks. The one I presume is the leader had blonde shaggy hair, green eyes, tan skin and a built physique, the next guy looked like his second in command with black hair, blue eyes, and built, the last two were identical twins, brunette, brown eyes and built.
"Hey fag we're talking to you and I don't have all day long to be ignored" the leader guy said. He pushed Jaycees shoulder. I stood and and said "leave him alone" he turned to look at me. "Well well well, what do we have here boys, seemed we have us a pretty girl, standing up for a fag, oh so sad" he said to his friends. "Tell you what, ditch these losers, come with me and I'll show you a good time" he said, trying to be seductive when really he looked like a Down syndrome duck (no offence to Down syndrome people).
I looked at him disgusted. "How about you turn around, stop hitting on me, and leave before I kick your ass for being a disrespectful loser" I said. He frowned, took a few steps back and said "your a girl".
This comment angered me soo much. "So what? Walk away before I come over there, and I beat your ass". I was seething, he was sexist, homophobic, and rude. He turned to Jaycee and said "watch your back fag boy, I will get you when you least expect it" and then he walked away with his "henchmen" following him.
I turned to Jaycee and he looked really pale. "Jaycee are you ok?" Jack asked gingerly touching his pale face. Me and May silently awed at the sight,me hike Henry just grinned, happy for his best friend.
Jaycee suddenly hugged Jack and sobbed into his jacket. "He's gonna get me. He's gonna beat me up. Jack I'm scared" he finished in a Whisper. My heart broke for him. I looked over and saw three guys exit the cafeteria and into the field. It was Jayden and his friends. I waved him over to the bottom of the bleachers.
He saw my face and asked "what's wrong?" In a concerned matter. "4 guys just came over and started harassing Jaycee. He's scared and hugging Jack like he's the last thing on earth. Kinda cute to be honest but not the point. Anyway I was wondering do you think you could get him home or something, he's really scared and stressed" I said. Jayden said "was it because he's gay" "yeah I said quietly. "Do you mind that he's gay" he questioned me. I shook my head "I couldn't care less, it's about the quality of the friend not the sexuality" I said quietly. He nodded his head and said "thanks for looking after him for me, I'll get him home. Could you tell the teachers that he's gone home sick if anyone asks for him". "Yeah sure" I said. He smacked in relief"thanks" "anytime"
Then the bell went and we went to our third class of the day
