Chapter twelve: Disturbing Awakening

"Sheele!"

"Mein!"

Voices bounce around in my head. I feel a presence beside me, I turn to see Tatsumi. He was asleep resting his head on the bed beside me. My memories seemed so jumbled, I try to remember what happened. Then, it hit me, I cover my mouth at the sudden memory flowing into my mind.

I watched my best friend brutally die, right before my eyes. Tears slowly flow down my face.

"Sheele..."

I say quietly as I think back to the look on her face, she looked almost happy to just see that I was safe. She truly cared for me until her last breath.

I wipe the tears off my face only to then remember another person...the Red Knight.

I clenched my weak fist.

The memory of the Red Knight was fuzzy, but from what I remeber he was able to activate Scheele's teigu without even owning it.

How did he..? I think to myself as Tatsumi slowly wakes up beside me. I lean back against my pillow and waited as I looked at him.

He strecthed and yawn, not yet noticing me. I could see he had dark circles under his eyes, he must have stayed up late watching over me.

"G'morning."

I say as he quickly snaps his head and looks at me.

His eyes widen.

"Mein!"

He says as he embraces me in a hug, I squeak in pain, since I was still sore.

"Oh sorry,"

He says and he releases me. He puts his hand on mine, and we both smile and each other.

"I'll go get you some breakfast, be right back."

He says before running off to the kitchen.

KIMIKO

My eyes slowly open.

I fell like I've been sleeping for years...my body is aching from being in bed for so long.

Speaking of which.

"HOW LONG WAS I IN BED FOR?!"

I quickly sit up and hear someone enter my room, I turn to see Akame holding a tray of food.

"Kimiko?! You're awake?"

She says in surprise as she comes and lays the tray down beside me. I lean back in my bed as Akame looked over to me.

"Akame, what happened while I was unconscious? Is everyone alright?"

I ask trying to act as calm as possible. I look at her face, Akame's expression became dark as she sighed quietly.

"Akame..? is everyone alright?!"

I ask again now in a concerned tone.
