(y/n) tapped the pen on the wooden table as she yawned. It was already late at night, around 12, past curfew, but she still stayed up. Awake. She needed to get this letter done. She had always done this and it had already become a habbit, but now she can't seem to write anything. She had so many things she wanted to write, but it was hard with which one to write first. (y/n) just felt regret all over her and she wished she had done something sooner, but now all she can do is write her feelings down between ink and papers, unanswered.

'He won't find out...' (y/n) thought as she stuck out her toungue a little, squinting at the paper for a while and scribbling a few words in a messy cursive handwritting. She hoped that it was readable yet hard to make out of. She didn't know how to feel as she wrote those words. Does she want him to read it or not?

'He won't read it anyway... he's dead...' (y/n) thought through holding back tears. She scribbled a few more words on the paper. She folded it into a rectangle shape and left it on the desk under the weight of a pencil holder. She stretched and yanwed before crawling into her bed covers, resting on the soft mattress. She couldn't sleep, but soon her eyelids closed as she drifted away with the warmth of the blanket which reminded her of somebody who once was her best friend.

It wasn't long till her siblings woke her up for the day, however this day was a little different.

"Hey, hey, (y/n)! Wake up!" (sb/n) cooed as she slapped something fexible and smooth and soft onto (y/n)'s face. It felt like paper creasing (y/n)'s cheek only to realized that it was paper. She opened one eye to check, and turns out (sb/n) was holding onto the piece of paper (y/n) left at the desk early in the morning.

"Shoot," she bolt upwards and tried to snatch away the paper only to have (sb/n) pulling it away and unfolding it. "Give it back (sb/n)! Don't. Snoop." (y/n) demanded glaring at (sb/n) only to make her smirk.

She cleared her throat in a dramatic way before reading the letter. "Dear Leo," she started and (y/n) lunged at her grabbing the letter. On instinct, (sb/n) pulled the paper towards herself, ripping it apart. The sound of the paper being torn into two echoed in (y/n)'s ear. She felt some relief in her, yet pain filled her chest. She didn't know why. (y/n) grabbed the piece she had torn apart, only to sigh. 'Maybe this is a sign that I shouldn't tell anyone...nor tell him...' she smiled a weak smile at (sb/n) before crumbling the piece of paper that she had at hand.

"It's nothing." (y/n) smiled again before laughing. "Let's get ready for the classes ahead of us shall we?"

"Dude," (sb/n) said nonchalant, "First period is breakfast. Than free break. Than volleyball, the only class we have is in the afternoon dummy!" (sb/n) pointed at (y/n), "Better get ready, I don't want to miss breakfast... the others have already exited the cabin. Remember? Last one to leave will have to pack our cabin for the cabin check," (sb/n) shivered, "And I wouldn't want to be the one wiping the whole cabin!"

(y/n) rolled her eyes and quickly changed into her orange camp t-shirt with shorts before combing her (h/c) hair making sure it wasn't a mess. As she walked past out of the cabin, she dumped her torn piece of paper into the dustbin laying beside the door. 'He's dead, he won't know.'

(y/n) trotted along behind (sb/n) as she skipped happily towards the Pavilion smiling and swaying her hands. She seemed to be oblivious about the crowd to her left, but it caught (y/n)'s attention.

"Hey, I'm going to check it out over there..." (y/n) trailed off as (sb/n) nodded. (y/n) than turned around and cautiously walked towards the crowd, tiptoeing upon reaching so she could see what was happening.

"You!" she heard piper shout before hearing muffled voices and a "ouf". Not to mention, people sniffing and seeming to be laughing. The suspense killed (y/n) as she couldn't see through the crowd. She kneeled down and started to pass through the gaps at the bottom, only to trip and fall at the end.

She could feel the dust in her eyes and her nose tickled, but she held her sneeze and brushed the dirt off, rubbed her eyes and stood up. People stared at her as she gave another weak smile and than, standing in front of her was the only Latino boy she knew off, Leo. Beside him was a girl, a girl with the colour of caramel hair and olive skin. She had the looks of an angel and not to mention Leo has his arm around her.

The boy turned around and gave (y/n) a lopsided grin, "Hey. It's been a long time right." (y/n) felt a pain in her chest. All these time she thought he was dead, and here he was, in front of her, alive. She could have another chance but looking at the blonde beside her, she felt another arrow striking at her heart. Way too late.

"Oh hey..." (y/n) panicked, she didn't know what to do. She felt angry and astonished that he was alive. Glad, ecstatic. But at the same time she felt angry, frustrated, furious. She smiled. "I'm sorry, who are you again? I don't think we have met before." the words came out faster than she could withhold them in. Leo's eyes widened and he's mouth opened a little. He muttered a few words making the blonde beside him laugh and playfully (also very lightly) punch him in the shoulder.

"Don't you remember him (y/n)?" Annabeth asked, studying (y/n). "You guys used to be best friends."

(y/n) scratched the nape of her neck, "Nope, I don't seem to remember seeing him at camp at all!" she stretched her hand towards Leo. "New camper eh?" Her chest was painful just seeing Leo. Him with somebody else, reminding her it was always too late. Having to smile when she wanted to cry was heart breaking and all she wanted to do was to smack herself right now, who thought she had a chance.

Leo just stared in disbelief before shoving her outstretched hand away. "Stop fooling around (y/n)," he smiled a weak smile, "Nice prank though."

(y/n) just wanted to slap him too. 'So my feelings are a prank? So you think this is just all a prank?' she was ready to brust but she bit the sides of her mouth to stop her from blurting anything.

There was silence. Everybody seemed shocked execpt Annabeth who just shook her head slowly.

"I'm sorry, I really can't seem to remember you." (y/n) mutteterd after much thought. "Maybe we never met before?" she knew it sounded more like a question, but she didn't care right now. She smiled again before turning around, hoping Leo would stop her, grab her hand and say that this was all just fake. That he was alive but he didn't have somebody in his heart. Of course he didn't do so, and of course he had somebody else in his heart. He was never (y/n)'s to begin with.

As she reached her cabin, she opened the cabin door furiously, marching in, take all the letters and tearing them apart. They were (y/n) feelings between ink and paper, words and questions never to be read and answered, all torn into pieces like how (y/n) heart felt seeing Leo alive, with no chance to tell him three words that were at the tip of her tongue.

"I love you," she mumbled softly, "I love you idoit." she felt water streaming down her cheeks as she sat on her bed, wandering why she was so foolish, why she thought she even would have a chance.
