Chapter 9
Zen POV
I knew who it was; I knew exactly who it was! How could I let my guard down thinking they wouldn't take her away? I'm fucking stupid.
//Flashback//
"Max you can't be serious?"
"I'm serious Zen," Max said to me with apologetic face. I sighed and look back at the picture that Max showed me.
It was a middle age guy talking to someone on the phone while getting in the car with a short brown hair guy on his left and tall, blonde hair on his right. I can't believe this guy want to harm Maddie. I looked at Max again hoping one more time that this picture was a fake. Hoping he would say "Hah, got you!" but to bad, his face told me it's real. I looked back at the picture for the tenth time and sighed.
"What could we do?"
"For now, we just need to focus on Maddie's safety. Does anyone else know about her current situation beside the usual?"
"Yeah, this boy named Zen," I sighed for the twentieth time.
"Zen the guy who bullied you? You're joking"
Here we go again. "Yeah," Max started to laugh historically, I looked at him and smiled a little. Max was my childhood friend. We grew up together alongside with Claire of course. Max was always there for me and Claire but later on he moved away because of his mother who passed away ten years ago. Max was a geek; he wore geeky clothes, pimples on his face and braces on his teeth. Soon after a total make over done by Claire he became a hot shot in school. He used that popular power to bully some people who bullied me and Claire. Especially Claire since she had the roughest time. He did have the chance to live like a popular boy with the hottest cheerleader but he didn't, he chose us. When I and Maddie moved to a new school, it was rough for him losing his two best friend but we always kept contacting each other. After he found out about my parents death and also Maddie's situation he became very protective as a brother. That's how he got involved in this.
Enough with the flashback about him, I need to focus on Maddie's safety. I promise I won't let anything happened to her. Not now, not ever.
//Present//
"Turn hard right," I said while pointing to the directions to Nick who was driving like a mad man. He nod and turned his steering wheel on his right.
"Okay, which way now?"
"Turn left; turn right and go full speed ahead. We will be there in ten minutes."
"Okay," he nod and continued driving in silence. I hope they don't do anything to her, if they did then they would finally met hell.
//Ten minutes later//
We had arrived to an old abandon house; Nick had parked his car behind a large bush. I looked at the abandoned house and saw there were only three male people on the front carrying guns, two guys on the porch and three guys inside the house.
I turned to Nick who was texting to someone and looked at me with intent stare.
"What's the plan and I asked for back up," he said while looking back at the abandoned house.
"We wait for your back up and my back to arrive and I will tell later for now let's wait and hope she's okay," I said while clasping my hand together. Soon, I felt a pair of arms on my shoulder and then next thing I knew I was being hugged by Nick.
"Don't worry, she would be fine. I promise you that, we will beat that fucking asshole who took her," he said while rubbing my back, I felt calm and for a moment I felt like everything was normal. We stayed in that position for about twenty-five minutes until we heard someone knocking on the door. Nick and I let go of each other and I turned around to see Claire smirking at me. I sighed knowing I had to tell her since she isn't going to let this matter slip out of her fingers.
