Luke picked up his spoon hurriedly and placed it on the little saucer accompanying his coffee cup. He looked up at Ellie trying to form words he would say to her. He kept thinking of the right thing to say. He had to congratulate her obviously but all that came out was a stuttered "Pa - Paddington?"

Ellie nodded, a sigh escaping her lips. "It's just a little over an hour away from here though," she said looking up at him from the coffee she had been staring at.

"Oh," Luke said as relief washed over him. That isn't too bad, right? He thought to himself. "But will you be able to come over during the weekends?" He asked hopefully.

"I don't think I'll be able to come over during the first semester at least," Ellie shook her head. "I don't want to mess up anything at the beginning itself."

"Oh," Luke said feeling slightly defeated and Ellie realized it from the way his shoulders drooped. "So I won't be seeing you for six months? Or probably more?" His voice cracked on the last word.

"I - I guess so," Ellie looked down at her coffee again which suddenly looked undrinkable.

They were left in silence - each thinking over what was just spoken.

"Did you decide on what you want to do, Luke?" Ellie asked looking at him and breaking the silence.

Luke nodded. "I decided to teach kids to play guitar. University isn't really my thing; I made it past school with difficulty. So I thought why not do something I love and help people while doing it?" He shrugged.

Ellie looked at him wide eyed with surprise. "But, Luke! That's great!" She exclaimed loudly bringing all eyes to her but she didn't care or even notice.

Ellie was overjoyed that Luke was finally beginning to live his life the way he wanted without pushing himself into the darkness like he used to. It was like he changed a great deal right in front of her eyes - from the lost, unhappy boy to the confident, happy (find word) young man.

"Yeah," he said with a smile. "I got the idea when my neighbor asked me to teach her ten year old son. She said she'd pay as well."

"Luke, the guitar teacher," Ellie said slowly. "Yup, suits you well," she giggled.

Luke chuckled. "El," he sighed. "We'll make this work, okay?" He asked as he reached forward and clasped Ellie's hand in his, giving it a slight squeeze.

"Always, Luke," Ellie said without doubt. "It's you or no one else," she smiled sadly.

"I love you princess," he said as he pulled her hand to his lips and placed a lingering kiss on it.

"I love you more," she said sweetly.

"How'd he take it?" Ellie's mother asked.

Ellie and Luke had spent half the day at the coffee shop and after that had strolled around without any destination in mind. Their little talks, inside jokes and stolen kisses were things that Ellie would treasure forever no matter where they would end up.

Ellie's whole body was aching from walking around the entire day and running after Luke when he would pull out her hair tie and run away laughing like a madman. No matter how silly the boy would get, her heart wouldn't stop pounding hard like a rock band drummer banging his drums.

Finally, after their long and exhausting yet amazing day, Luke walked Ellie to her house and kissed her goodbye - a kiss full of, not lust, but sweet love. He then told her to show up at Ashton's house but didn't say why no matter how many times Ellie asked.

All Ellie wanted was to head off to shower and snuggle into bed and watch a movie marathon but her mother had called her and made hot chocolate for the both of them before diving into the questions.

"He didn't say anything but I could tell he was crushed," Ellie sighed in answer to her mother's question before finishing up her drink.

"Tell him he can come over anytime after you leave," Jane said with a soft smile before picking up the drained mugs and took them over to the sink.

"Sure thing, mum," Ellie said as she placed her hands on the counter and pushed herself back, standing up and walking over to her mother. She hugged Jane from behind and said, "Thank you so much, mum. I love you."

"I love you too, sweetie. Now go wash up," Jane said.

"Okay," she kissed her mother on the cheek and walked upstairs.
