Cities; Just Like Us

New York is gray coats and red lipstick
walking hurriedly among pedestrians
to the top, where she belongs
she strives to be the center of the universe.

Paris is romantic strolls and small cafés
with no hurry, with gentle feelings
among pedestrians who hail her
with ballads to the city of love.

London is gray skies and colorful people
tea shops and museums a hundred years old
a modern city, at the very top
with an eye that watches everyone.

Rome is rich history nestled among marble
a city that has been at the top longer
a place of magic, of modern people and immortal buildings
a city where you get lost in the past.

Tokyo is modern and futuristic
those buildings have no time for old times
charming people with hearts of gold
Tokyo charms with twinkling lights and crowded streets.

Buenos Aires is the queen to her inhabitants
a city that has sheltered so many in the past
Theaters and tango seduce everyone
and her buildings hail her a beauty among cities.

Rio is sapphire beaches and emerald mountains
A city to get lost in her exotic beauty
From above, Christ the Redeemer
keeps watch over this colorful metropolis.

Humans debate over the real queen of cities
New York? Paris? London? Rome? Tokyo? Buenos Aires? Rio?
And the cities are ready to fight over who is the best of them all
See, cities are just like us; only mightier, richer, and stronger.
