Flare POV

"Nick." He says.

"Dad." Nick says. I look between them confused and I can sense the hostility in the room. And I don't like it. Nick seems to have sensed Thai and pulls me into his side. I'm tiny compared to him. I'm only up to his chest.

"Who's this?" The man says. Nick growls lowly at the man.

"Why are you here? You left 3 years ago without an exploration and then come back." Nick growls out. I whimper and press my face into his chest.

"We'll continue this in my office." He says and Tyson follows behind the man who I'm guessing is Nicks dad.

"Nick. Let me explain." The man says as soon as we're in Nicks office.

"Then explain why you just leave them." Nick says as he leans against the wall and I stand beside him not knowing what to do.

"You've heard the stories. Of how mates have no will to live once they lose there mate. You were my only reason to live when your mother died. Then you grew up and I let my depression take over. I'm lucky to be alive. The miner of suicidal thoughts that have gone through my head are too many to count." He says.

"That doesn't explain why you left when I was at my most vulnerable with the pack. I didn't know the ropes well. We were vulnerable and you left us. At least stay a few months and help me get the hang of everything before you go charging off." Nick says and I feel him getting angry.

"I DIDNT HAVE A CHOCIE NICK. I WAS DEPRESSED. I WOULD OF BEEN NO USE TO THE PACK!" He yells. I jump and bury myself into Nick.

Nick growls loudly at his father and wraps his arms around me.

"I see you found your mate. A human. Rare. What's her name?" He asks.

"It's of no concern to you." Nick says. The man comes closer and tries touching me and Nick. Nick let's me go and pins the man up against the wall.

I jump back and Tyson pulls me away from the angry men.

"Don't. Touch. Her." Nick seethes out as the man is trying to breath.

"Nick! Stop it. Your scaring her." Tyson yells and I realise I'm shaking and clinging to Tyson.

Nick looks over and his face softens. He lets his father go and comes over to me. He pulls me into a hug and walks out the room. He picks me up and I wrap my arm around his neck and my legs around his waist.

"Shhhh. I'm sorry baby. I'm sorry." Nick says as he walks into his room and sits down on the bed. He buries his head into my neck and breaths deeply.

"Nick. You can't kick me out." The guy yells. I flinch and Nick tightens his hold on me.

"Watch me." He says and a group of men come and drag him away.

"Nick. I'm your father. What would your mother say?" He yells. Nick puts me on the bed and matches out.

"DO NOT BRING HER INTO THIS, THEO, SHES GONE AND YOU KNOW EVERYTHING WOULD BE DIFFERENT IF SHE WASN'T!" I hear Nick yell. He comes back in and his eyes are black. He doesn't come towards me. In stead he growls at nothing in particular and then his brown wolf is stood in his place with clothes falling to the floor around him.

His breathing is heavy and he walks over to me slowly. He nuzzles his nose into my stomach and breaths deeply. I slowly put my hand out and scratch his head. He purrs and tilts his head.

I feel the slight sparks shooting through my body and giggle slightly. After a while he calms down and goes into the wardrobe and shifts back.

He comes back in a pair of joggers and no shirt.
