"Wait, what? He actually asked you to hang out today?" Han exclaimed, his voice muffled by a generous mouthful of creamy cheesecake, the rich sweetness almost spilling over his lips. Hyunjin nodded, taking a slow sip from his milk tea, the boba pearls dancing playfully within the glass. "Yeah, binnies going with me so I won't feel too awkward..." he admitted, a nervous habit surfacing as he scratched the back of his neck, his fingers fidgeting with the ends of his hair.
A puzzled expression crossed Han's face, and he tilted his head, his curiosity piqued. "Why would you feel nervous, though?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with mischief. Just then, Felix interjected, his tone blunt and matter-of-fact. "They made out."
At those words, Han's jaw dropped in shock, his wide eyes darting between Hyunjin and Felix, taking in the weight of the revelation. Hyunjin, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks, rolled his eyes in exasperation, a mixture of embarrassment and irritation swirling within him as he tried to divert the attention away from his awkward situation.
"Dang! You fell for him that fast?!" Han exclaimed, taking a leisurely sip from his drink, his eyes sparkling with mischief. Hyunjin let out an exaggerated scoff, rolling his eyes dramatically for what felt like the fifth time that day, his patience wearing thin. "Oh, please! If anything, he fell for me. I mean, just look at me—I'm stunning!" he said, tossing his hair over his shoulder with a flair that demanded attention.
"Who made the first move?" Changbin inquired, flickering from his half-finished plate to lock onto Hyunjin. Curiousness glimmering in his expression like sunlight dancing on water, Hyunjin leaned back in his chair, a smirk creeping onto his face. "He did, of course! I mean, who could resist?" he replied, clearly reveling in the admiration.
"I'm still surprised," Han chimed in, his tone casual as he shrugged, a hint of amazement in his voice. "Many students at this college would consider themselves fortunate to even snag a kiss from him. Some might even say you're quite lucky." He glanced at Hyunjin, gauging his reaction.
"You're calling it luck now?" Hyunjin raised an eyebrow, the air between them thick with playful banter. Han shrugged again, his expression unfazed. "What else would you call it?" he replied, his tone light yet matter-of-fact, before rising from his seat.
"But we do have to get going, right, Lix?" Han added, his attention shifting to his partner.
"Yeah! We're having a movie night," Lix said enthusiastically, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I would invite you all, but I know you have other stuff planned. So, we'll catch up later!" he declared, springing to his feet with Han beside him. The two shared a quick farewell with Hyunjin and Changbin before making their way out of the bustling café, their laughter trailing behind them like a warm breeze.
Hyunjin and Changbin spent the remainder of their time engaged in lively conversation, exploring topics that bounced between lighthearted banter and deeper thoughts. Once they felt satisfied with their chat, they headed home to change into something more fitting for their outing. Afterward, Changbin took the wheel, steering them toward the address that had been provided to Hyunjin.
As they drove through the quiet neighborhood, a striking black and white house came into view, standing proudly at the end of the street. Its elegant architecture and pristine facade captured their attention, the contrasting colors creating a striking visual appeal.
They parked the car along the roadside, the soft crunch of gravel beneath their feet accompanying their steps as they approached the impressive front door. The door loomed before them, slightly taller than average, inviting yet formidable. With a shared look of curiosity and excitement, they exchanged glances before Hyunjin pressed the doorbell, its chime echoing softly in the still evening air.
