It was well said that you win some, you lose some. And as long as you keep winning more while losing a little, it's totally worth it.

Yesterday proved to be a battlefield for me and Jungkook, the surgery we did was a success after spending almost the whole day in the operation theatre. But what I lost was the strength in my legs and I really couldn't feel my neck now.

It was a critical case, Jihyun—our patient had suffered TBI( traumatic brain injury) and it was a grade three concussion. She was at risk of permanent brain damage.

We got to know that she fell down on the stairs and her husband found her unconscious when he reached home. But thankfully Jungkook took everything in his hand and he was so calm during the surgery even though it was a high risk we might fail at this.

Patients with grade 3 concussion can experience speech difficulty, amnesia for more than 24 hours, vomiting, and seeing stars. The symptoms can be long lasting before they improve and subside. And we expected the same for Jihyun. Jungkook had decided to stay back at the hospital last night to check on her as she was under observation for a few hours after the surgery.

Rotating my neck again in a circle to loosen the stiffness of my muscles, I wore my white coat and headed towards Jihyun's room. I heard she gained her consciousness and Jungkook was already there to examine her.
Her husband was so relieved when the surgery was completed knowing his wife was going to be fine soon.

I pushed the door open and saw Jungkook standing near Jihyun's bed and her husband was standing some steps away from him. Jungkook looked up at me, averting his attention from Jihyun's reports towards my frame, he searched for my eyes and then moved towards my lips and stayed there for a heartbeat before looking back into my eyes.
He shouldn't have done that, he should know that his little stares create a storm inside me.

I tried to hide my wrecked self—all thanks to that handsome face and his soul-sucking stares—and stood near the edge of Jihyun's bed on the opposite side facing Jungkook. I cannot afford to die standing next to him, I have patients to attend to.

"Doctor, how long will it take for Jihyun to talk again? Will she be able to walk? You said she is in shock? What does that mean?" Ho seong, Jihyun's husband asked Jungkook with his eyes almost looking tired as if he hadn't had sleep for so many days, uneasiness was pasted on his features and he looked worried.

"As I told you, she is in shock because of the surgery. It happens, there's nothing to worry about. She suffered serious injuries and she will take time to recover from that. And about her inability to talk and move, it's temporary, it can last for only a few days so you don't have to worry about that either. She is doing well now, but of course she needs to be monitored regularly."

Jungkook tried to explain to him about his wife's condition and he looked back at me.
"If you ever see any movement from your wife you can call Dr. Kim, she will be monitoring her and I will be available too."
Ho seong nodded and gave me a pressed smile.
