I went to bed that night in my giant, comfortable bed and fell asleep as soon as my head hit that pillow, cuddled into the warm, plush duvet. Now if only I had woken up that way.
Instead I had woken up in the middle of a parking lot on the cold wet ground. Where am I? I was beginning to think it was all a dream. At least,I thought it was until I saw Tyler across the parking lot. Last time this had happened was during training, and since then, I didn't expect it to happen again so soon. Again, I had found myself in someone else's dream, helping them make a life saving decision that later save their life.
I slowly got up from the ground, and could tell that it was raining previously from the wet ground and my soaked clothes. Once I had realised what was happening, I made my way across the parking lot over to Tyler, but it was slightly difficult with the rain covered surface underneath me leaving me with minimal traction. "Tyler!" I yelled. No one would hear-or see us for that matter- this time around. We had to let the fatal ending play out first.
This had to be my least favorite power so far. I mean, I never handled things like witnessing people get injured or killed well. It caused my heart to physically hurt, but I had no option but to watch and stand by. But it's all worth it when you save them and the feeling you get knowing you saved someone's life is an amazing feeling that you never forget.
"Alex?" Tyler turned the direction I was slowly approaching him from. "I didn't think you would be here, but I guess it's better that you are. It gets really lonely out here sometimes." Tyler looked truly excited and grateful to see that I was there with him. I was glad I wasn't there by myself either, because I don't think I could handle these situations on my own.
Before I even had a chance to say anything to Tyler, tire wheels screeched on the road in front of the parking lot we had appeared in. We both turned our attention to the sound just in time to see two cars collide. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion when the two cars hit full speed into one another. The front of both cars was completely smashed in by the impact, completely destroying the front. There is no way a driver or passenger could survive that. They would have died on impact.
After silence fell around the scene, Tyler and I made our way over to the two demolished cars. I checked inside one car while checked the other. There was a small baby in the back of the car I was checking. She was just fine; a little shaken up by what had just happened, but nothing major.
In the other car, there was no one in the back. As soon as I touched the side of one of the cars, everything about the people in the accident came flowing to my mind. The car I was checking carried the 10 month old baby girl named Marie. She was with her parents, and they were on their way home from the grocery store. Her parents were still very young. They had a whole life ahead of them that included raising a family and Marie was the beginning of their family.
Marie couldn't grow up an orphan. She had a whole life ahead of her; a life that included her parents being there for her first steps, her first words, her first everything.
In the other car was an older couple. They had been happily married for 58 years now. They were visiting their grandkids. Little did they know that it would be the last time they would see them.
Seeing what would happen if Tyler and I didn't help them makes it seem even more important that we help them and get them out of these messes. All these people we don't know have lives just as complex as our own and they can be cut short because of one little mistake. All they would've had to do to live and avoid the wreck would have been to go around that corner a little slower so they wouldn't slide in the icy rain water that covered the street.
Before I had a chance to do anything else, everything went black again. I was back on the wet parking lot ground once again with Tyler not far ahead of me. Now it was time to set things right. It couldn't end like that again; all five of those people had so much more to look forward to and it couldn't all be taken away by a little mistake.
"How are we supposed to communicate if they're in cars and we're out here?" I asked as I got up from the black gravel and made my way over to the edge of the parking lot.
"Just think of what they need to do and what you would say if they were having a conversation with them." Tyler replied, watching the desolate street that wouldn't be very desolate for much longer.
A couple more minutes passed by before the car with the young couple and ten month old Marie came around the bend. The car driven by the older couple wasn't very far off in the opposite direction; they were almost to the corner that would be their demise.
"You need to slow down. Drive careful...Or something bad is going to happen..." I thought, hoping they could hear my thoughts like Tyler had said they would.
Tyler must have noticed how worried I had looked because he turned to me and put a hand on my shoulder. "It's alright. It will work and everything will be alright Alex. I promise."
His words were very reassuring. I continued to think of what would happen if they didn't slow down and listen, hoping- no, praying- that they would slow down on that corner and be careful. Well, now would be the time to find out if it worked.
The older couple's car rounded the corner slower than before, and slowly continued down the street to the bend the other car had come from as they passed by the other car, not making any contact with it at all. It worked!
"Thank goodness! I was so worried that it wasn't going to work!" I said, letting out the breath I didn't even know I was holding.
Tyler and I turned back to the parking lot and walked back to where we first arrived. "See, I told you it would be alright. And you know I'm always right." Tyler said cockily.
I rolled my eyes at his comment. Suddenly everything went black again and I tried to move my arms and legs, but I couldn't. Usually I can by now and I should be able to see again too. What is going on? I thought as I continued to struggle. I tried to force my eyes open, but I couldn't move. It was like I was paralyzed!
I continued to struggle until I felt too tired to fight any longer. I kept trying, but as fatigue clouded my brain, I slowly drifted asleep.

I don't know how long I was out, but when I awoke, I could finally move again. The only problem is I don't know where I am. The cozy duvet that once surrounded me and kept me warm is gone. The comfy queen sized bed that supported me was nowhere to be seen as I found myself lying in the dirt. I wasn't even surrounded by the many trees that covered the island. There was nothing but dirt and dead trees for miles on end. Where am I and what am I doing here?
Sorry I haven't updated in soooooo long! I had to pack up my laptop and it hadn't been unpacked until yesterday. I recently moved and I now go to a new school so things are kind of hectic at the moment. Thanks for patiently waiting... except for you Ellee, because you weren't patient at all. XD
Anyway, I'm going to start a new book also called Bad Boy Rep. It's about a fifteen year old boy who has the whole bad boy reputation at school, but outside of school, he's a completely different person. One girl knows this and she's the only one, so when she goes to his school and finds out this not so good reputation, will his reputation take her down to, or will she be able to help him show who he really is?
First chapter should be up tomorrow. Thanks!
