I wake up to the beautiful sound of my blaring alarm.
Ughh 8:02.
I could press snooze and sleep for another couple minutes..
Yea I'm gonna do that.
It isn't until seconds later that I hear more buzzing coming from my phone.
Yep, it's Vania.
Vania :)
Vania: Mikaila
Vania: Are you awake
Vania: Bruh u better be
Vania: I'm gonna be there in 30 minutes
Vania: U better be awake
Vania: MIKAILA
Ugh I guess now is the time to wake up then.
Like I really had a choice.
I text her back saying I'm awake and then I get ready.
Sigh am I ready though?
Am I ready to pretend I'm happy in front of all these people?
Pretend that I'm perfectly fine that I'm going to be with them for the next four years?
Yea I don't think so.
I can't do this.
I should just back out now.
I don't want to meet new people. I don't want to see the fake people either who pretend like they care about us and will be there for us if we need anything.
We all know that's bullshit.
In conclusion, I am not ready for this thing nor do I wanna go.
And that's when the doorbell rings.
Well it's too late now.
I open the door.
"Hi Mikaila."
Yea I guess it really was time to go.
I'm just hoping that Vania was just as anxious as I was.
I grab my jacket and head out the door.
We have to walk to my friend Victoria's house and then to school.
"I'm not ready man." She says
"Oh god thank goodness you too?" I reply
"Yea, I'm not ready to see the people. Especially him."
And by him she means her crush who she has liked for five years now.
I don't get why she won't just get over him and move on like honestly.
"Bruh calm down he might not even be there. But seriously I do not want to do those activities."
"Oh yea me too. I would want one of our friends to be in my group at least."
"Yea same."
We walk up the driveway to Victoria's house.
I ring the doorbell.
No answer.
"What the hell." I say
I ring it again.
Nothing.
"I'll call her." Vania says
"She better hurry up."
We end up waiting about 10 minutes which wasn't that bad actually considering that I didn't want to get where we were going early.
We get a text.
GROUP CHAT
Raina: Will you guys hurry up? I don't like being alone with Eli.
Eli: Rude. But seriously guys hurry up.
Sigh the twins, Raina and Eli.
One of them wants to kill all of us and the other is still not over my best friend.
She moved, get over it.
Once Victoria comes out of her house we head our way to school.
We're walking, kind of calm kind of not, to the place we would be at for the next four years.
We all weren't sure how to feel.
It wasn't until I actually saw it that I started panicking.
I mean, yes I've seen it before but I've never really had to go there for a reason.
With each step we took, the nearer we got which means the more I couldn't breathe.
I could tell that my friends were freaking out too.
Vania was just rambling on about how she couldn't do this and how she wanted to go home, and Victoria was trying to calm her down when really we knew she was about to break down.
I was just hoping that I could get through the day without having a panic attack.
"I don't see anyone we know. Do you know anyone here? Do you see anyone?" Vania says
"Calm down I'll text Raina." I say
Raina :p
Raina: We're in line in front of the gym, HURRY UP.
We make our way there thankfully without getting lost.
We greet each other, talk about our summer and whatnot.
All we have to do now is wait.
We continue talking as the line begins to grow.
We see some familiar faces, some non-familiar faces and we hug and talk for a bit until suddenly there's someone yelling the instructions.
They start letting people in to go take their picture.
They are splitting people into groups.
"Oh hell nah fam they can't split us up." Vania says
And with that they separate her into a different group to go take her picture.
"So are you excited to be here?" A worker asks
"Um no." I reply
"Don't worry you'll love it."
"Doubt it." I say under my breath
He then let's us in.
We get in line to go take our pictures.
Great, another school picture to add to the collection of my other ugly school pictures.
"Next." The photographer says
"You guys ready to see the ugliest picture? Here we go." I say
