I woke up to the sound of meowing. I rolled over onto my left side and looked at Rocco. I guess she had to go to the bathroom or something because usually I'm the one to wake her up. I looked at her for a few seconds and she pawed at my nose, making me smile and giggle a little. I sat up and looked over at the clock on my nightstand. It read 7:32 a.m.
I sluggishly got up and out of bed along with Rocco and walked over to my bathroom door. There's a litter box in there just like there is in mom and dad's bathroom. I opened the door and turned on the light. Rocco walked over to the litter box quickly and did her business. I walked back out into my room and over to my suit case filled with my clothes and opened it.
I pulled out a white tank top, light blue hoodie with the words Mickey Mouse on the hood in black letters and a Mickey Mouse face on the front of it, and a pair of skinny jeans that had chi-ta print on them. I threw on the outfit and grabbed my favorite pair of shoes by my door. They were one of 6 pair that I had. They were a pair of black Jordan's that had crimson/blood red splatters all up and down the sides and on the toe of them. I couldn't find a pair of shoes like these ever in my life. I think my dad had them custom made for me. At least he knows what style of clothing I like to wear.
I walked into the bathroom and found Rocco sitting half asleep in the sink. I smiled a little and picked her up which made her open her eyes and look at me. I sat her down on my shoulder and let her lay there. I began brushing out my light brown hair.
It went down to the middle of my back and I always had it either pulled up or braided. But today I thought I would do something different with it. I decided to part it differently. It was parted in the middle so I took a bunch of my hair from the left side of my head and brushed it over to the right. I grabbed some scissors that I keep in my bathroom for things like this and cut the hair that I just pulled over. I cut (and layered) it to about where my eyes were and looked at myself in the mirror. (it was the 'emo' haircut basically, if you were wondering)
I smiled.
I think it suited me well enough. I brushed the bangs into the way they were supposed to be and then put down the brush. I bent down and opened a cabinet that was under the sink and began searching for my nail polish. I found one of my clear, plastic boxes that I keep them in and pulled it out. I sat it on the counter part of the sink and opened it up. This one was all my mixed colors and some clear ones. I pulled out a light purple and a black one.
The purple was called Sunset Shine and the black was Black Kat.
I painted my fingernails in a pattern. It was black, purple, black, purple, on the left hand and then purple, black, purple, black on the right one.
I let it all dry and then washed my face. I brushed my teeth, put on some deodorant, and finally, brushed my hair for the last time. My hair looked like an emo's hair, with the bangs long, layered, and swayed to one side. And the rest of my hair was naturally layered so I didn't have to do anything about it.
I turned and shut the bathroom door to look at myself in the body mirror that's on the door. I looked myself over and frowned. I opened the door and walked into my room again. I looked around and found what I was looking for hanging up on the coat rack I have on my door. I walked over, grabbed what it was, then went back into the bathroom to look myself over again.
I looked at myself and smiled. I had grabbed a beanie and put it on. It was a grey beanie with the word Mickey on it and a picture of Mickey Mouse's face on it. As you can tell, I love Mickey Mouse.
I FINALLY walked out of the bathroom, turning out the light on the way, and out of my bedroom to the kitchen. I knew that dad would most likely either be at work or still sleeping and that mom would either be doing the laundry since Saturday it laundry day or she would be making breakfast for my dad and I. I still had Rocco on me but she had crawled down me and went to hide in my hoodie pocket. I looked down at her little head that she had poked out and started talking to her like she was a normal person. Saying good morning and asking her if she slept well, that sort of thing even though I knew I wouldn't get an answer. I scratched under her chin and she closed her eyes and purred loudly.
When I got to the kitchen I looked around only to find that nobody was in there. I walked out of the kitchen and down the hall that had the doors to the basement, guest room, guest bathroom, laundry room, and my little computer/studio/recording room. I don't ever really use it unless I'm super bored, but they made it up for me anyways.
I walked to the end of the hall where the laundry room was and opened the door. The light was on so I assumed that my mom was down there. I called out to her.
"Mom? Are you down here?"
No answer.
I walked down the first few steps and looked over at the washer and dryer. There was a white basket full of clean cloths and a note sitting on top of them. I walked the rest of the way down the stairs and over to the laundry basket. I picked up the note and read it:
Autumn,
I'm sorry I didn't go and tell you this morning that I was leaving, but I had a woman call earlier this morning around 6ish and she wanted for her daughter to get some piano lessons around 7 or so. I made breakfast and put it in the fridge so that it wouldn't attract fly's or other insects. These clothes are yours and I would like for you to go and pack them up please. Your father should be upstairs sleeping still so if you need anything just go tell him. I promise he's not gonna be mean to you or anything, sweety. At least try to get along with him okay? I also bought you another suit case for all of your computer stuff in your little studio room if you want to take it with you. You don't have to if you don't want to, but I would like it if you did. Your father paid good money for that studio set and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want his money going to waste like that. Be good, stay in the house, yes you can invite someone over if you want, and you can go visit Ms. Tilly if you want. But don't be wandering around if you go to visit her. You go over there and straight back. I should be home around 12 or so.
I love you,
MommyI folded up the note and shoved it in one of my back pockets since those skinny jeans didn't have front pockets. I grabbed the handles on the sides of the laundry basket and picked it up. I carried it to my room and sat it down in front of my bed so that I would remember to put them up with the rest of my clothes.
I went back down to the kitchen and pulled Rocco out of my pocket. I set her on the counter with the bar stools and went to grab a can of tuna fish. I opened it and scooped it out into a bowl for her. She watched patiently as I brought her the food. She pawed at my hand as if saying thank you and then began eating. While she ate I heated up the french toast that mom had put in the fridge. I got the syrup, cinnamon, bananas, strawberries, and apple juice. When the microwave beeped I had just gotten the apple juice out and was starting to get me a cup.
I got my breakfast all set up and ate. Then went and got some paper and a pen out of a little basket that sits on the kitchen table in the dining room. I took a piece of the paper and grabbed my moms favorite blue pen and wrote a note for dad telling him that I went to Ms. Tilly's for a while and should be back around lunch time or sooner. And after placing the note beside his plate of french toast, I picked up Rocco's empty bowl along with her, put her in my pocket, put the bowl in the sink, and walked out the door to Ms. Tilly's house a little ways down the road.
