I walked out of the hospital for the first time in weeks. The warm sun hit my face as the nurse opened the large glass doors to let us out. It was warm, felt good, and mixed well with the fresh air that I had missed so much. I hated the smell of hospitals no matter how much I tried to ignore it.

The nurse lead us to her car and said that since we didn't have a car anymore we could get a ride to our new house with her. She told us that the police and other people from the hospital had gathered up what was still in tact from the crash and moved it into the house for us. They said that one of the animals had died and that was Lilly, my snake. Apparently when I hit my head, I hit the lower part of her skull with the little cup holder thing in between the two front seats when my arm flew forward and it cracked. She died instantly from it. I was sad because she was one of my favorites but I didn't say anything about it nor did I cry over her. I cried to much for my mom and Ms. Tilly already.

We got in the car and found that the animals were in there already. I smiled ever so slightly as Stripes and Rocco crawled into my lap at the same time. Rocco crawled up me and onto my shoulder before curling up and going to sleep, while Stripes pulled at my hoodie sleeves trying to get me to pet her. I pet her and she put her head down, going to sleep along with Rocco. I laid my head back and closed my eyes thinking about how it was going to be now that mom was gone. I silently cried as I began to think back on the memories we had together and then, I felt myself being pulled into a deep dreamless slumber.

A/N: Yes, she sleeps a lot because I'm to lazy to type what happens during car rides.

I woke up to the sound of barking. I slowly opened my eyes and rubbed the sleep away from them. Max was barking at dad for trying to carry me in. I smiled up at him a little then pet Max's head so that he would stop barking. He began wagging his tail and then looked at me for a second, then he turned back to dad and growled as if to say 'she's awake now go' or something. I giggled and got up, letting Rocco camp out on my shoulder and leading the three dogs into the house. It wasn't much. It was white, with a thick blue stripe going around the whole top of the wall, separating it from the roof. It had a two sided porch, the left side being a ramp, and the right being stairs. The door was a screen one, then it had the actual door which was white with a diamond shaped window at the top. I looked through it before dad opened the door for us.

The inside was a lot better looking that the outside. It had hard polished wooden floors, plain white walls, and two windows in it. I looked down the hall to my right and saw a bathroom at the very end, with two rooms on the left side of the hall. I walked down the hall and into the first room.

It was a small room, it wouldn't hold much, and it had tiled floors. It was colder in there than in the rest of the house, and there was a window on the opposite wall from the door. To the right there was a closet and on the left side a wooden desk up against the wall along with a tall standing wooden dresser that looked to be very old with a matching broken book shelf sitting up against the wall beside the door way. I bent down and looked at the book shelf but nothing was on it. I stood up and saw something black in a crack of the bookshelf where the back had been pushed out.

I sat Rocco down on the floor and she left to wander around.

I bent back down and put my hand behind the bookshelf and felt around, my hand brushed a books spine and I grabbed for it. I pulled it out and stood back up, it was a journal of some sort. It was all black with only a little carved symbol in the center top of it. It was a deep blood red color though instead of being white or tan like expected. I turned it over to the back side and there were deep browned stains on it. I got shivers down my spine at the thought of it possibly being old and dried blood. I turned it back to the front cover and brushed my finger tips over the symbol. It was very nicely carved, and it was deeper than expected as well. I tried to open the journal, but it wouldn't open. It was as if all the pages and the covers were stuck together.
