The next few days went by way too quickly. Soon, Charlotte had been staying over for almost a month, and Dan was actually used to having a roommate again. He was actually feeling a lot better, too.
It was also time for Vidcon. The last time he'd gone, it was with Phil, which only brought back more horrible memories. Still, people were worried about him, even though he'd gotten back to posting videos regularly. They noticed that Phil never tweeted Dan any more, and that they never even talked in the background. The Phandom was concerned, to put it to the least.
"You should go," Charlotte said, as they shared a pizza at the glass table, "Show people that everything is still okay." Dan smiled.
"But what if I see him?" he asked. The woman shrugged. A week before, she'd gotten her hair dyed dark, dark red. It almost looked like a natural hair color, and Dan liked it. It suited her better than the bright colors she had before. More sophisticated.
Charlotte smiled, "You can either avoid him, or try to make things better. You decide." She finished her pizza and walked back to her room, "Also, make sure to pack! The plane leaves pretty early tomorrow."
Dan smiled weakly and replied, "Okay..." He finished his pizza and walked back to his room, dragging his suitcase from the hall closet along with him.
"If you need help packing, just say something," Charlotte said as he passed her open door. She'd been writing some new songs for her channel. Dan had helped her film a video for one, and it was actually doing pretty well. Not like, Adele or Nicki Minaj well, but well. They were both proud.
"I'l be fine," Dan replied, and pulled the suitcase through the door.
Packing was easy. He didn't need much, since it was only a four-day trip. Phil was staying with Cat for a few days after, so he'd decided to leave and just not deal with anyone. That would be easier.
Charlotte told him that soon he would have to stop just doing things that were "easy" and risk something for once. He found it funny how much she knew about life for a 21 year old. She had the knowledge of a hundred year old woman packed into one talented, beautiful, girl.
He might've had a bit of a crush on her.
She however, didn't seem to have any feelings for anyone. He was pretty sure she was straight, as she talked about old boyfriends, but she never really commented on anyone she "liked." He figured it wasn't his business and should leave it to her.
She'd helped him a lot, though. She'd been the one to plan a meetup two weeks before, just to reinforce the belief that he was perfectly fine and always had been. He hadn't given an explanation for why he was gone for all that time, but that probably didn't matter. Fangirls would've seen right through it.
"Bye, Charlotte," he said, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. It was seven thirty AM, and now he had to catch a flight.
"Bye, Dan. This house is gonna feel so empty without you..." she wrapped him up in a hug, letting her chin rest on his shoulder. She was one of the few people tall enough to do that.
"You'll be fine. It's only four days. I'll see you later!" He pulled his suitcase through the door, and waved one last goodbye before rolling away.
This was the beginning of his first challenge.
// Yes I know it's been forever but I haven't had a computer all summer, plus I've been slightly busy being out of the state. Add guitar, theater, and school starting up soon, updating is a little difficult <3 //
