Phil: hey! How was the panel?
Dan: ay. it was good. I mostly waffled around but everyone else said coherent stuff.
Phil: you always says you "waffle around" but you actually say really smart stuff
Dan: whatever. How was your thing?
Phil: I had the rest of the day off, but sitting in my room for a few hours really was thrilling
Dan: cool.
Dan sat in bed, wondering whether Skyping Char would be clingy or not. He decided it would be and just texted her. Anyways, it was only a few days. By Monday he'd be back home in their flat, eating junk food and playing DDR. What else could two lazy adults want?
Dan: I TALKED TO PHIL
Char: omg actually pls tell me this is real
Dan: it is ;)
Char: OH MY GOD IM SO PROUD
Char: but I have to go as its 11 PM here and you know workDan: okay bye
Charlotte went to bed thinking about how well she had done. It wasn't vanity as much as being honest. Once she'd sorted her life out she'd realized it was too short to be everyone's perfect modest woman. If she did well, she would say it.
In front of the recording people she'd rocked out, probably playing her best show since the first one Dan had one to. She hoped they'd recorded that, because it was fit for YouTube. Her day was sitting and waiting for the call, asking her to go back to the studio.
Finally, it came.
"Hey Charlotte! I'm just calling to say congratulation, because you got the contract! All you need to do now is come and sign on, and record your first album!" It was a recorded message, but she still screamed, lying on the couch with tears in her eyes. Happy tears.
She nearly called Dan, but knew she should keep this a surprise. How to do that she wasn't sure, but she had to figure out before Dan got back. It was like telling him she was pregnant. Which she wasn't.
It was late though, and tomorrow she'd have to go back the the company to sign everything. Don't want to look like crap for all the producers. She went to bed early, getting extra sleep. This was important.

Dan couldn't sleep. He was to excited about the next day. He and Phil were going to keep talking around lunch. Someone had happened to see the two of them together, and now the whole Phandom was almost back to normal. Freaking out, he guessed, but at least they weren't the YouTube equivalent of the MCRmy anymore.
Plus, he was going to be in another panel about mental illness. Technically he wasn't really "diagnosed" but everyone know that Dan Howell had some serious issues. Existential/quarter life/creative crisis, the whole Phil thing, and dropping out of college, the people organizing the event knew they could help someone, he supposed. That's what he told himself.
It wasn't really that bad, though, he would get to help people and that was great. If he could do anything outside of YouTube it would probably be acting or charity of some sort. Plus, Phil said he'd be in the audience, making sure everything went well.
Maybe the VidCon drama was over. He hoped so.
