The day before ereyesterday had a lot of energy from all the lively chatter and goings from the girls. Everyone has had a good time there and now it’s time to rest. Also during those times, Yuuki's injury has also healed up and he can do activities normally again. Though for Flora, sometimes the rest can get boring for her so she decides to go out by herself, to unwind from the previous hangout and recharge her outgoing battery. Or would it be better if Yuuki goes with her too?
Flora puts on her usual hoodie and jeans combo as she walks from the balcony of the second floor and down the stairs to the first floor. She sees Yuuki sweeping and immediately asks him
"Hey Yuuki, wanna go out together?"
Yuuki’s attention switches to Flora who has already don her go-to outfit. He can tell that she’s going to go out – on a hangout again, he thought. But this time she asks him to go with her? That’s really nice; he is considering. Although he would go were it not for the weather outside to be raining. It’s quite the downpour too.
“Oh, but it's raining outside.”
“Hah?!” Flora’s face immediately puts on a surprised expression.
As she realizes this, Flora runs lightly to the window and looks outside. She sees the rain pouring down from the dark grey sky and has made some streams of water and puddles on the streets. Her expression becomes bitter as she was looking forward to going out. Pity really. And with this disappointment, Flora retreats and sits on the sofa in the living room.
Meanwhile, Yuuki continues sweeping the floor. Charles is off duty today because it’s the weekend and he’s (un)clearly enjoying his break. After some time later, he has finished the chore and checks on the kitchen area.
“Sudah… sudah… Apalagi ya?”
He opens the cabinets and checks if there's any missing ingredients or those that are running low. He takes notes of those he needs to buy and then rests at the sofa, together with Flora. The two are silent at each other as one is resting after doing chores and one is killing her boredom while scrolling through her phone. Soon enough, Yuuki mutters something that is picked up by Flora.
“I could use something now,” he says. “A snack perhaps?”
“You want a snack?” says Flora in return. Her eyes looking at him with casual expression.
“Well, I am kinda hungry now so I think something would be nice.”
“Actually…” Flora gets up from her seat, “I could use something now too.” She says as she goes to the kitchen to make something for Yuuki and herself.
‘Now what to make?’ plagues her mind. With the available ingredients, what will the girl make to solve the case of their hunger – hers and his? But quickly, she remembers a dish. One that’s reliable, relatively quick and easy to make, and she knows it very well. It’s the one dish that she has been eating for practically her whole life: the sandwich!
Hurrily, Flora assembles the wares and the ingredients necessary to make a sandwich; or sandwiches, as they are served for two people. The girl casually but precisely prepares and cooks the ingredients into her desired appearance and assemblance, going for a savory option with vegetables and sauce. Soon enough, the sandwiches are done and served, fresh from the pan. They look delicious!
The crusty appearance of the toasts, accompanied with juicy patty, alluring sauce, and fresh vegetables, make up for a lovely serving of a sandwich. The smell alone already invigorates Yuuki’s hunger. His expression both surprised and amazed at the same time.
“Meal’s ready!” Flora says gleefully.
The two do not hesitate anymore and start digging in, with proper manners of course. With their respective sandwich, a combination of juicy and bold flavors of the sauce and patty mixed with the vegetables’ freshness, all bunned between two buttered toasts in every chew. So delicious… And they finish their meal soon enough, and their hunger problem solved. They’re full.
“Thanks for the meal, Flora!”
“How was it?”
“Yummy! I like it.” Yuuki smiles.
Flora smiles back, “Glad you like it!”
Flora soon initiates a new conversation.
“Oh by the way, were you looking at the sandwich? Were you curious of anything?” Flora asks as she points out Yuuki opening and looking the inside of his sandwich earlier as if he were investigating a puzzle.
“Oh that–” Yuuki covers his burp with his clenched left fist. “Sorry– uh… I was just curious to what ingredients you were using. I certainly like it.”
Flora accepts that last compliment with a smile and joyful feelings.
“But, isn’t it just a BLT sandwich? Just that the bacon is replaced with beef patty and you added an egg.”
“Hehe, sure it is. I just prefer them for my sandwich; the bacon isn’t really fulfilling to me, you know?”
Yuuki mutters out a sound of ‘I see’.
“Oh, I guess I could call it MELT sandwich.”
Flora took the time to process before realizing the joke. Oh you…!
The two spend a little more time together before Yuuki gets up and prepares himself to buy groceries. This might just be pure coincidence but Yuuki mutters the question Flora asked to him earlier.
“Flora, wanna go out together with me?”
The girl’s face lit up in excitement, “Sure!”
