BTC (2): Scenario: What if Chris never found out about Riley, but Riley never came out as/realized she was a lesbian at all?
A/N: Trigger warning - suicide.
Some events from the previous scenario will tie into this one even though they are not technically connected scenarios.
The night that Riley told Chris she hated him changed a lot of things. She apologized to him the next day and Chris forgave her. However, things were never...the same.
Max's family became even more dysfunctional over the years, especially after her dad died. Without a good girlfriend and support system on her side before things got as bad as they did, Max never let anyone in, out of fear that they would either judge her or not be able to handle the bad things going on in her life. She never felt loved.
Two weeks before her seventeenth birthday, Max took her car and drove off. She purposefully crashed the car into a tree. The car spun out of control, flipped multiple times, was hit, and eventually stopped in the middle of an intersection where it was hit by two other cars.
Max was found dead on site.
All of Max's classmates were in attendance at her funeral, Riley included. Max's mother, Evelyn, seeing nothing left in the world for her to live for, shot herself two days later. Max's brother remained unaware that any of this happened until years later.
Riley fell into a depression and it worried everyone around her. School was the only thing Riley ever really focused on or took seriously. She was bullied by Emily, but only for being Goth and for reasons related to Motionless in White and Riley never sang with Jack at the winter showcase, and because of that, she never saw Carlie again. She never fell into music due to the depression she'd fallen into. Riley never again went to homecoming after her freshmen year, nor did she go to Prom or any other school formal or event. Everyone around her worried for her.
Riley graduated high school as valedictorian and her family was extremely proud of her. Riley was proud of herself too; though at the same time, she felt she had an unfair advantage of the other students given the fact that she had an eidetic memory. Nevertheless, everything was happy for that one day.
Riley got accepted into NYU and that was where she began college as a law student; sort of seeing it as a last resort as far as career options go. Maybe she could have met a nice girl to start a relationship with, but she was extremely famous now because of her dad. Everything would be exposed. Overall, Riley was just afraid and confused with her life. So, as she did throughout her high school years, Riley kept to herself through her college years and didn't speak to anyone unless she needed to.
One night though, Riley heard about a party at a frat house that pretty much everyone was invited to. She'd gotten all of her work done that she needed to do for the night and had nothing else to do, so she decided to go.
When she arrived, she began drinking immediately.
Alcohol made the pain go away.
About a half hour after the Riley arrived at the party, a guy walked up to her and smiled, "Hey, cutie."
Riley looks up at the guy. She'd admit that he was aesthetically pleasing; attractive as far as appearance goes. Not that it mattered much, considering Riley was already wasted.
"Hey." Riley says.
"How come I've never seen you around here before?" The black-haired-green-eyed boy asks. He had to have been about six feet tall and was certainly well built.
Riley shrugs, "I-I'm kinda shy..." She says before taking another sip of her drink.
The guy chuckles, "You got a name?"
