FP1 (2): List: Assuming the rest of the plot line was the same as the original story, what if McKayla had died - either by way of Jamie or by jumping off of the bridge?
McKayla's friends would have grieved her, but they'd have moved on eventually. Chris and Carlie would have stayed together but broken up later in life as we all know they did in real life. The story would pretty much be the way we know it to be in real life.
FP1 (3): What if McKayla had died - either in the school shooting or from drowning the previous summer?
Well, McKayla and Chris never would have met. There would be no story between the two of them.
FP1 (4): What if the school shooting never happened?
There would be no reason for the McClain family to move to Scranton. McKayla and Chris never would have met and there would be no story.
FP1 (5): What if Matthew had agreed to turn himself in the day of the shooting as McKayla suggested?
Matthew would have been arrested, for sure. He was seventeen the day of the shooting, but would have been tried as an adult and likely sent to prison in North Carolina. The McClain family still would have faced much discrimination and likely would have moved to Pennsylvania still. The story would actually probably be very similar to the original, just maybe with McKayla visiting Matthew in prison when she got the chance. If we're talking in terms of the entire trilogy here, she likely would have gone to see Matthew when she found out about the cancer, when she and Chris got engaged, when she got pregnant; etc. The whole ordeal with the grave stone vandalism wouldn't have happened and the bracelet would not have been nearly as important to McKayla because it wouldn't have been the last and only piece of Matthew that she had left.
FP1 (6): What if Chris and McKayla had never had sex when Chris and Carlie got into that fight?
They likely still would have realized their feelings for each other and the story wouldn't have been much different.
FP1 (7): What if McKayla had jumped off the bridge?
Honestly, Chris probably would have jumped in after her and gotten her to safety. The storyline would probably have been pretty similar to the original from there.
