Chapter 7

Haven Pov

Watching the moonlight shimmer through Nico's hair reminded me of how things were before we left. All the little ones running around, the higher angels basking in brightness, the beautiful nights spent in the elaborate garden. It was all spectacular, and now things...have changed a lot. I couldn't dwell on those thoughts for too long, as di Angelo struck his sword in my direction.

"It's a battle you wish for?" I asked emphasizing the question by pulling out a demon blade from my hair.

"How did that? Nevermind, fight me."

I shook my head, "Get ready to be beat."

Then, the 'battle' began with my blade held high and my leg sweeping at Nico's. Hoping for a fall, I smiled, but unfortunately he stood his ground and swung at my forearm. I barely dodged the attack, then making sure his sword wasn't in the way, I tackled him to the ground. Yet, once more, he was ready for it catching me mid tackle and pinning me to a wall.

"I thought you said you'd beat me, Hav," he smirked.
"Well, I'm not done yet Nicholas," I mocked, stepping on his toe then sliding through his legs.
Nico whistled, "On your knees already?"
I growled, "You wish."
He laughed, "Honey, your parents won't keep me from you."

That's all it took for me to no longer want to fight, I sat pulling my legs up to my chest. Shaking my head, I couldn't help but thinking what made him off limits. "Hav, are you alright?"

I nodded, "Yeah, I guess."
"You look like you need a hug."
I smiled, "From you, anytime."

Nico pulled me to my feet and brought me into a bear hug. Wrapping my arms around him, I layed my head on his shoulder. We had begun to sway to an imaginary music. That's also when Grace found us, or should I say Jason?

"Hey Nico, having fun making me and Perce look bad?"
Nico stopped swaying, but didn't let me go, "What are you on about?"
"Oh you know, being all romantic and mysterious."
I laughed, "Grace is jealous of a fallen ang-."
Nico glared at me and I manged, "Fallen angelic demigod."
Nico then kissed my head as an apology, "Yeah, Jason, you jealous?"
He nodded, "Damn straight!"

Jason walked closer, close enough that I could feel his breath on my neck giving me chills. I shivered and could have sworn he was smirking. I felt Nico tense up and felt him growl. "What the Zues, do you think your doing!?!"

"What does it look like?" Jason grabbed my waist, and Nico let go.
"Fine, but if you harm her, she'll kill you," Nico spoke as he left.
I turned to Jason and screamed, "You ruined everything!!!"
His face turned to one of sympathy, "I didn't think he'd just let you go."
I nodded and mumbled, "I thought he wouldn't let anything stop him."
Jason tried comforting me, "He's just mad at me, surely he wants you."
I sniffed, "Or maybe he's gone for good."

Nico Pov

~after walking out~

Stupid Jason and his damn self! Why did he have to come and take her from me? Except, I just let her go, I'm such an idiot. Damn it, I hate myself. Honestly, I am so damn through with my dumb mistakes. Will Hav want me back? Will she forgive me? Will she even look my way? Will she ever figure out that I love her? Wait, I love her. I love Haven Grace, but she'll never know because I am too ignorant. Maybe I could just- "Nico?"

Turning, I saw Percy, "What?"
"How are things with Haven?"
"Oh that, well let's see, she's alone with Jason," I spat.
He nodded, "What happened?"
"I um, I left her to Jason."
"Dude, are you crazy!?! What if her wings come out?"
I never thought of that..."Then her secret is out, and I'll leave with her."
"Nico, are you one too?"
"An angel, not exactly. I'm angel and demon, but you can't tell Hav."
"Why?"
"Because I want to protect her."
"And you thought the best way was to kiss her then leave?"
I blushed, "I um yeah actually."
"Even I'm not that stupid."
"Percy, could you help me with something?"
