Crystal Wings

Chapter 7

Kid looks around a wasteland that looks as if a nuke had gone off, leaving buildings half broken and most turned to dust. The sky is darkened by clouds as he walks around the desolate area, a warm breeze tickling his ears from the heat trapped under the clouds. Kid looks around for any familiar things as a negative energy emits from everywhere, pulsing through him as if threatening to knock him off his feet like a wave of water, "Liz? Patty? Is anyone there? Kuri? What's going on?" He calls out curiously. A scuffling behind him directs his attention and he turns on his heels to see the dark angel from before with black hair in a low ponytail, the shorter hair in scraggly bangs that are tipped with red on the ends of every strand. He grins and as his purple and black heaven eyes shine. Kid freezes up like before but with the minimal training he's been through, he inches forward on stiff muscles to the male who doesn't move an inch. The reaper gets close enough and pulls his hand back in a jabbing position. The heaven eyes close and Kid regains motion, taking the chance to thrust his hand forward with full force at the dark angel's chest. As his hand buries into the skin, the scene melts into a dark room and the male turns into Kuri who screams having been tied up. Blood drips from the middle of her chest where Kid's hand is now buried. His eyes widen at her shriek and he looks to see not only Onami and Mangey in the same position to her left but his pistols to her right, all four of the weapons hanging by their arms with metal steaks in their chests, blood pooling under them. Kid opens his eyes and sits up screaming loudly, his yowl echoing through the manor as his eyes dart around his dim room. He quiets and breathes heavily, trembling. After a few moments the door swings open as Liz kicks it open holding her sister in gun form and pointing her around the room wildly with wide eyes, ready to defend and fight.
She looks at her meister and lowers Patty realizing no one was in there, "What the hell, Kid?! What happened?!"
The reaper puts his hands in his hair and shakes his head, "N-nothing... I'm fine it was just a bad dream."
Liz puts Patty down who turns normal, "You don't think that heaven eye training is doing this right? You heard what your dad said about this so maybe you need to take a break." The older sister says worriedly.
Kid shakes his head again, "No. I have to get over this. We can't let those dark angels have the upper hand."
"But this is the third night terror this week. And you had four last week after you started the training."
"I'm fine. Just go to bed. Please. I'll be fine."

Kuri walks down the school hall with her swords towards the usual classroom. She walks in and looks around at the students already sitting down as she Onami and Mangey go to their own seats and take them. Kuri stretches her wings as Kid, Liz and Patty walk in and take their seats next to her.
"Morning, Kid. How you feeling?" She asks letting out a yawn which followed by one from the reaper.
"I've been better."
"Hmm? Hey, you don't look too good. You getting enough sleep, buddy?" She asks examining him.
Liz pokes her head around him with a worried yet stern voice, "No he's not. He's been having night terrors and he needs a break from training. Please let him rest, Kuri. We don't want him to hurt himself."
Kuri's blue eyes go from Liz to the pistol's meister and back, "Alright. He will take a week off to rest before the next training session." She says and Kid opens his mouth to object but she cuts him off, "No exceptions. You need a break. This isn't healthy."
The reaper sighs and closes his eyes, "Alright.."
Onami folds her gloved hands, and blows the bangs out of her eyes.
Mangey pokes the werewolf, "Sooo. What's up?"
"I think Runa is planning something. I'm not sure what it is though. She's starting to mess with my head." Onami looks at her.
Kuri directs her attention to her weapons, "I need to talk to you guys." She puts up her wings like a curtain around them as she speaks in a whisper, "Kid's weapons care for him so much. I wanna do something nice for him and them. It'll be sad if he has to outlive them, plus it'll take forever for him to find a match pair again that work with him so here's an idea. I'm gonna go to the library today at lunch while you guys go to Lord Death's room and keep him company as well as keep Kid and his weapons busy. Sound like a plan? I need to do a little research."
Onami salutes. "Yes, malady!" She goes to bow, but forgets to stand and slams her head onto the table, making a "THUNK" as that happens.
Everyone looks over as the room goes silent. Kuri nudges Onami's shoulder, "Yooooouuuuu okay?"
"My dignity hurts..." Onami groans with her head still on the table.
The angel pets her sword, "Aww it's alright. You're still cool to us."
Onami gives a thumbs up.
Runa growls, 'When I get out of this insane asylum you call a head, I'm going to punch myself in the face, that way if you get your body back, you'll have a reminder of what happens when you act like this. In fact...' Onami's head suddenly lifts up and she punches herself in the face. 'Well, that may have used up all of my power for now, so I'll leave you alone until then. See you soon~...' Runa's voice fades.
Kuri tilts her head, "What the hell? Are you alright?"
Onami looks at her hand, fearful. "I... I think Runa just made me punch myself. She said by doing that, she 'used up' her power..."
Kid overhears her and tilts his head, "Runa did that? What will she do if she has more power?"
"Well, she's done something like this before, but that was YEARS ago. She had me act out again everyone until they couldn't stand being around me, that's when she got me alone and took over. But all I remember was someone stopping her and getting me back into control. Although, she's a smart little chili dog that will always have a backup plan. And a backup plan for that backup plan." Onami says darkly.
Liz looks at her worriedly, "That sounds rough..."
Kuri sighs, "We can't worry about it now."
Professor Stein rolls into class on his chair and looks at the students, "Alright, everyone get ready. Today will be a special lesson." He says straightening his glasses, "Today Kuri is going to face off against everyone in class, one at a time. We're going to observe how an angel fights and what special moves we can pull out of her and her weapons."
Mangey fist pumps, "Whoo! That sounds awesome!!"
Kuri's face turns pale and she grows nervous, "M-m-me??" She points to herself, trembling and gulps hard when the teacher nods and she droops her head, "Oh my god..."
Onami points at the ceiling. "I object!" She imitates another voice. "Overruled!" She goes back to her own voice. "Your Honor, I must say that my client is innocent and this not involved in the crimes against chicken legs!"
Stein gains a blank face as he looks at the sword, ".........."
Kuri pets Onami on the head, "Nice work, Onami. Now I'm not only nervous, but I'm embarrassed too.."
Mangey snickers.
Onami derps. "I'm always here to help!"
Kuri takes her turn to slam her head on the table as she whines and half cries.
"Please don't mess up your hair, it looks absolutely lovely today with its symmetry." Kid says looking at her and she slams her fists on the table.
"IM NOT PRETTY STOP COMPLIMENTING ME!!!"
Onami practically tackles Kuri. "AYE!" She puts a hand on her cheek and strokes it. "No. You no say that. Feel the love. FEEELLL IIIIIITTTT..." Onami whispers pressing her cheek against Kuri's face.
The angel feels herself being hugged as the werewolf leans over the table with her and they land on their heads in the booth in front of them, "Ack!!" Kuri squirms and flaps her wings wildly, "Onami, let go!!" She says as the kids in that booth look at them strangely and scoot away as the pair stand on their heads, one calm while the other one attempts a flail.
"Shhhhhh... just give in... you're in a safe place now..." Onami whispers.
Stein chuckles a bit at this, "Heh. Alright, now everyone outside."
