Prolouge

ATTENTION: This story takes place one year after the story of the Attack on Titan Anime. From this point it's all my imagination so if something is happening here that doesn't fit the story of the manga please don't hate. The main character and some other charas are my OCs but most of the charaters are from the anime and don't belong to me.

"Karen ! Karen !"
I looked up from my book, just to see my twin brother Nate running into my direction.
"Damm it, Nate. Don't scream at me while I am reading !"
He raised an eyebrow. "We'll be late."
"No we wont"I rose up from my chair. "We have ten minutes left till we have to go and I will spend these ten minutes READING."
He shoke bis head. "How can you be so calm ? Aren't you a bit nervous ?"
"I will join the scouting legion, even if I am one of the ten best."
"You WILL be one of the ten Ka. Of course we will both join the scouts but it would be nice to know how good you were." "Yeah Yeah" I looked at the clock. "Excellent, Nate. Now we have to go and I lost ten minutes of reading time."
Nate shoke his head again and left. I heard something like "damn bookworm".

I was nervous. I was just very good at hiding it. Since we joined the military, Nates and my goal was it to get into the scouting legion. No other cadet in the 105th cadet legion thought like us. The last year of cadets, the 104th, had grown famous for the strange fact that eight of the ten best had joined the scouts. This was really uncommon. The 104th was also known as the "titan year", because there were two soldiers within it who could turn into titans. Annie Leonhardt and Eren Yeager. Eleven months ago Leonhardt turned into a titan within wall Sina. Yeager fought her and hundreds of people were killed. After that and after the 57th expedition, where more than half of the scouting legion died, noone wanted to be a scout anymore. Besides me and Nate. Our father died in Shinganshina, getting us and our mother on the last ship to the inner walls. Our mother could never live with this.We became cadets for revenge, but also to escape the sight of her, sitting in her chair doing nothing just staring at us with those empty eyes, waiting for our father to come.

I was not one of the best.
I was THE best.
But I didn't care. I wanted to be a scout and Nate who was third was with me.
We became scouts.
For revenge on the titans and to fight for humanity.
