Chapter 5

On the day of the mission I sat on my horse and stared at the wall.
I was terrified.
All the training and studying hadn't prepared me for this moment.
Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Hey Karen, are you ok ?"
Oh my god it was Jean.
"I'm fine", I said trying to smile.
"Don't lie."
I looked to the ground. "I'm scared as hell."
He looked into my eyes. "It's okay Kar, if you wouldn't nearly die out of fear you would be mad."
Did he just call me Kar ? Oh my god. Only Nate called me Kar, it had been his Nickname for me since he could talk. But I had no problem with Jean calling me like that.
This time my smile was real. "Okay"
"Okay"
We would ride in groups of three. I was placed with Jean and Christa, Nate with Mikasa and Sasha. This was good. I feared that something could happen to my brother but Mikasa would be skilled enough to protect him.
As the walls rose we rode out into the Titan territory.

Training hadn't prepared me for this.
We had rode to Erens Basement. Eren, Corporal Levi and Hanji Zoe entered. We other ones formed a ring around the house. As the three came out we all rode back as fast as we could. I heard voices from everywhere around me "What have they found ?" "Reiner and Berthold disappered !" "Where is Team Mikasa ?" RIGHT ! WHERE WERE NATE AND MIKASA ! I looked around, panicking, but I couldn't see them. Oh my god no. Please no. No. No. No. By the time we were back in the walls Jean and Christa had to do everything to stop me to jump down from my horse while riding to search for them. That was when I saw Mikasa,her red scarf flying in the air. Oh my god, thank you. "Mikasa !" I screamed "M I K A S A !" She saw me and rode into my direction, but why did she look at me so scared? "Mikasa where is Nate ?"
She was silent, just staring at me white as a ghost.
"Mikasa ?"
She longed into her pocket and gave me something.
It was a necklace covered in blood.
A siver necklace with a bronze ring.
"No." I stared into her eyes.
"I'm so sorry Karen, he..."
"NO ! HE GAVE ME A PROMISE ! HE PROMISED HE..."
My voice cracked and I began to scream.
