Everything froze from the falling leaves to the ants crawling on the floor. Only I could move, however I unfroze Theodore, he looked at the pause in time I had created in awe. We arose from the bushes, but he was still observing the frozen world. I snapped my finger to snap him out of his shocked trance, and he suddenly looked at me blinking, confused.
"Um hello? we need to separate the werewolf and vampire. The spell doesn't last forever!"
As I said that momentum strikes, everything starts to move again but in slow motion. Theodore and I quickly move in front of the werewolf and vampire arguing. I start to push the werewolf man while Theo pushes the vampire woman.
Momentum is back.
They finish their sentences and then look at us in confusion but then they see our student council badges. The werewolf looks at me angrily.
"A witch?! You're not only defending a vampire but working with them?! After all they've done to your people? You're a disgrace!" The werewolf angrily growls at me pushing back, and it was only a matter of time before he beat me.
I scoff "For all your talk of honor, you sound more like a beast than a man." I retort shoving the shame of the werewolf curse at him, quickly his expression of anger turns into one of regret.
The vampire chuckles at my retort so Theo snaps at her "you're no better, you embarrass us with your lack of poise and elegance"
"Both of you to your designated dorms now! It's past hours." Theo demands. The vampire obeys embarrassed; however, the werewolf doesn't move an inch. Theo glares at him. "I won't take orders from a bloodsucking vampire." He sneers
"Fine, go to your room now." I demand, he obeys and even apologizes to me for being out past hours, not for his behavior though. Typical of the werewolf pride.
As Theodore and I continue patrolling we strike a conversation "Now I see why Adonis wanted a witch in our counsel..." I look at him with a questioning expression. "They'll listen to you. Werewolves, warlocks, witches, and even vampires. You're the middleman. Even though witches and vampires have had quarrels in the past after the sacred pact most vampires have forgotten the resentment they once held"
"Most huh? You still hold resentment then?"
He turned his head sharply "Resentment is beneath me, vampire pride is just.... fragile and we are territorial. Adonis made the decision of a new member on his own I believe needing a member of a different species makes us vampires look incompetent"
"Well, you do need me. If it had been just you, you would've confronted the werewolf and lectured the vampire in private creating a bigger hatred between the two."
He looked at me annoyed knowing the truth in my statement. Then his face relaxed and continued to look ahead in our patrol. I guess staying silent is his own way of admitting defeat without hurting his ego.
