"Wow, really now?"
It's the first thing that comes to my mind. I didn't realize I've said it out loud, until the guys start throwing crappy replies.
"Come on, Kaneki-kun! It's not like a single party's gonna drag down your grades."
"Yeah, you miss one test and you'll still be eligible enough to become a doctor."
Fuck, who said anything about becoming doctors.
"No, it's not that, Nishiki. But we're going to a club?"
Said boy fake-adjusts his glasses and rolls his eyes back at me. "Don't sound so surprised, Ken. It's a celebration party." I could see the expression on his face as he makes air quotes with his fingers, his tone exasperated as if he's saying duh.
"Who even came up with this thing?" I asked, frowning as I sunk back into my chair. Me and my group of friends are at my place discussing about having a 'celebration party' for all of us getting good grades through our first semester exam. School hasn't even ended properly yet, and semester break is fucking two weeks away. It's just one of their lame excuses to get wasted, I don't understand why they'll have to drag me into it.
It's not like I'm going to feel left out for not joining their parties. Thanks, I'd rather be left out.
"Shuu, obviously." Touka huffs the word out in a scoff, sounding fairly irritated. Said purple haired boy groans and whines something in French, squeezing my name into his sentence. I could just pick it out, this guy has a habit of dragging the 'a' in my name. He thinks it makes him sound cool, but he just sounds dramatic.
Why would he even speak French? We're all Japanese.
Touka's the only girl in our group, and everybody feel quite protective over her. It's safe to say we all act like big brothers, which makes her irritated in general, more irritated that how she sounds seconds ago.
"Cut it, cut it." I sigh. "Who's going?"
Nishiki stretches, his bone making disgusting cracks as he arches his backs and throws his hands in random directions. "I heard Shuu invited the whole class."
"The whole class?" I echo, finally having emotion laced in my tone as I turn to stare at Shuu.
Shuu just shrugs. "Come on, Kaneki-kun. It's going to be fun! We're trying to get you to socialize!" And there he goes with his cheery voice again. I think I hear Touka grumble something like 'yeah right' and I feel cornered. Shuu is the one that cares about his grade the least, since he's born in a family that practically drink melted golds for water. Me, on the other hand. Ha.
I scan the faces of the three, each portraying different emotions. Starting from left to right, we have Shuu with puppy eyes, Touka looking pissed as hell, and Nishiki looking like he couldn't care less.
I guess no one's willing to drag me out of it. What's the point, anyways.
"Alright, fine. I'm going." I surrendered with my hands stuck in my hair, tugging on it. The only thing I got in response is Shuu's excited cheer, but if you listen closely, you'll hear a 'finally' from Nishiki.
And you'd hear Touka not caring.
"Beware, there's a dress code!" Shuu exclaimed, out of fucking nowhere and his tone almost makes me jump.
"What?" I glower. There's always a dress code for everything when it comes to Shuu. The infamous heir of Tsukiyama who thinks everything would be better if you put on a fucking dress code.
"You'll have to have a rose somewhere on your body. That's right, a rose! It can be the flower, accessories, rose patterned clothes or whatever it is that has a rose. I'll wait to see how creative you could get on that one."
"Shuu, seriously-" my tone is heavily contrasting to his lively, happy one. I sound like if I'm frustrated enough, I could die.
A rose? What am I going to do with that? I don't have any rose-patterned clothes, they suck anyways. Only Shuu would have a whole rose-patterned suit. In purple, mind you.
"It's going to be fun!"
"Yeah, that's what he says all the time." Touka voiced out, running a hand across her face and shoving her bangs to the back. You'll never see Touka with bangs clipped to the back, it never happens.
"Yeah right. I'm fucking exhausted, gotta go now." Nishiki Nishio, the one who's always exhausted.
"Yeah, me too. I'll see you guys tomorrow night." There there, Touka.
"Shuu, just go-"
"Goodnight, Kaaaaneki-Kuuun!" God, the exhilaration in his voice is fucking exhausting.
I run a hand through my hair, mumbling an incoherent 'goodnight' in response.

As soon as they all got out the door, I plop down onto the couch, covering my face with my palms.

It's not like a party is going to overwhelm me. I've been to a few, but they're not pleasant experiences. And after that, I care too much about my grades to even get wasted. They all suggest me to 'loosen up' once in a while, but it's always easier said than done.

Guess I'm the biggest party pooper among all of us, but I can't really give a fuck about it. I'll just get a few drinks and accompany them while they get wasted.
Yeah, sounds like a good plan.
