Chapter Three: Lust's Insanity

Authors Note: This is his POV of the first chapter. Enjoy.

*Xavier's POV*

I wake up growling. It's torture! Having her willing in my arms only to wake up having her torn from me! Getting out of bed I walk angrily to go take a cold shower in hopes of getting her out of my head.

I've searched everywhere. Every pack but one. I've been searching every corner or this cursed earth for my other half; the one who'll make me complete and relieve me of this immortal curse. Being a pure blooded descendant of the first were to ever be I have lived a strict traditional life. I have been alive for nearly two hundred years. As tradition for my bloodline I paid homage to the gods and studied for my first hundred years In a monastery few weres have even heard of. If keeps all records of our race and history. After paying my dues and strengthening my spiritual self I was granted a vision nearly two decades ago.

*Flashback*

I was meditating on the vast balcony of the monastery when I felt it. It was the presence I've been waiting feel. My wolf purred in delight as I felt my senses come alive and yearning for my mate grew. With immortal wolves we are only granted our mates once we've pleased the gods to bless us with one. I began to praise the fates for their gift they have bestowed upon me.

Shifting my position and kneeling on the ground I bow my head to the gods. Praying for the well being and safe keeping of my mate until I can bring here to be raised and groomed into our immortal ways. I know it seems weird but for immortals we can only die if our mates have been killed; stripping us or our immortality and will to live. We will lose all our powers and strength and wither away until we are nothing but a lifeless shell of our former selves.

"Sir Xavier! Come quick! It's Marcus, your brother, he has fallen ill." Shouts Barkus, the captain of the kingdoms guard.

I bolt up snapped out of my prayers and away from any thoughts of finding my mate. Illness in our bloodline is rare and serious. Our physical bodies our immune to all and any disease or injury. The strong our faith and spirit the quicker we heal. Illnesses are a plague to our spirit.

Running from the balcony through corridors and past guards I head straight to my brother, the kings chambers. My brother is a decade older than I and the rightful heir to the kingdom since my parents have retired to life a simple life in solitude after ruling until Marcus was ready to assume the throne. It's been many decades under his faithful and prosperous rule.

I bang on his doors before ripping them open and all most right off its hinges.

"What's wrong? How can I help?"

*End of Flashback*

The cold water fails to clear the emptiness I feel within me. I walk outside desiring to be close to nature and try to sense my mate. standing on the massive castle balcony I close my eyes clearing my mind and focusing on my mate. I fail to find the connection I felt in my dream. With a sigh I open my eyes.

My brother's condition has been worsening ever since. We have yet to learn for certain what plagues his spirit. The elders are concerned that the wait for the revealing of his mate has shaken his faith. My brother from adolescence has always been drawn to the factual things in life and remained distant to the spiritual realm. We believe that his lack of homage and fealty to the gods has displeased them and out of spite he has be left mateless. His condition has progressed to the point where he is no longer fit to be alpha and king of the pure blood. I, being his beta and second in command, shall assume the throne. We must delay the stripping of his title due to his weaken condition the stripping of his title could damage his spirit beyond repair and kill him.

"Sir... May I speak freely with you." Barkus says snapping me out of my

"Of course, you are my dearest friend. What's on your mind?" I inquire curious to the nature of his concern.

"You and Marcus are like brother to me. I remember playing as pups in the castle gardens.."

"Get to your point Barkus." I interrupt not being in the mood for conversation.

"What if the scouts we've sent fail to find your mate? There is but one pack left to check. The elders could be wrong. What if the the blood of yours they carry isn't enough to bring out your mates bond?" He worries out loud not daring to look into my eyes showing his respect to my authority.

When my brother fell ill I was forbidden to leave and find my mate and stayed vigilant at my brother's side and went back to the monastery in search of a cure for my brother. After failing I sought out the elder monks in need of a way to find my mate without forsaking my brother. They said there was a way but it was risky. I was bled to near death for a week. They said the more blood I lost the stronger the blood produced would be; it would contain not only my scent but some of my essence. Once they were satisfied with the bloods consistency it was put into three vials. I could not risk sending only one and having it broken or lost. The first was broken, the second was wasted on one that was not my mate. When the scouts find a females who the suspect to be my mate she must drink it. If it send her into heat she will be brought back to me at once. If she isn't my mate she will become ill and vomit. Which is what the second bottle was wasted upon. One bottle remains, and but one pack left to search.

"The scout shall not fail. Their loyalty to our bloodline won't allow it. She will be found and soon. I can feel it. They took a part of me with them, I can feel that part getting closer to her."

"How is that possible?" He asked genuinely confused.

"She is pure, I can tell by the strength of our bond. Her blood line is not as pure as I, but her spirit and her being is. She comes to me in my dreams, like a vixen calling me to her. I will have her, and soon. Or I will leave and find her myself. I shall no be denied my mate any long! She has been ready for me for some time now and my wolf will not be denied her much longer."

"What over the elders? They won't let you forsake your brother Xavier."

" I will kill any who stands between her and I! She is my gift from the gods for my devotion! I deserve her and she is mine!" I growled at him gripping the stone railing and crushing it in my fingers. I can feel my wolf coming to the suffice and trying to take over.

"I fear for your sanity my friend. You must ground yourself before you lose control of your wolf entirely. No one but your mate will be able to help you regain control." Barkus mumbles not wanting to upset me further.

"Let's pray we find her soon then.." I growl out as I change into my massive white wolf and leap from the balcony into the waters bellow.'
