Chapter two;The Worst Mistake Made
A knock at the door makes me turn my head. My dad had just left after a long hug, leaving me alone in the room.
"It's open," I half-yell. The beige door opens slightly,
"Can I come in?" I feminine voice tentatively asked,
"Yeah," I respond. The door opens all the way and reveals a girl that looks my age walking in,
"Hi!" She bubbly greets, "I'm Mia, but if you want you can call me M, I'm your roommate!" She squeals. I laugh and observe her. She has brown hair and warm brown eyes, with fair skin and no freckles.
"Hey, I'm Jasmine. You can call me Jazz." I smile,
"Ooh! We can do each others nails tonight for school tomorrow!" Oh great.
"Are you a rider by any chance?" I hold my breath, hoping that she was so that I wouldn't be so alone during the tryouts for Varsity,
"Nope. I'm here for swimming!" She chirps. I nod my head, slightly disappointed, "But my friend Kat rides! And she is trying out for the team as well!" I smile, the leather box still in my hand. Holding it makes me already miss dad, and I can't help the sadness I feel now that he's gone, "Don't worry," she begins, placing her hand on my shoulder and picking up on my sadness, "I miss my mother as well, but it's okay. We need to learn to be independent!" She holds a fist in the air, causing me to laugh,
"Thanks M," I sigh, "wanna come with me to the barn?" I ask while pulling out my paddock boots and slipping them on,
"Sure, but know that I don't know anything about horses other than the gibberish Kat tries to explain to me!" we both laugh and walk down to the stables.
She tells me about some mean girl on her swimming team, and I tell her about my encounter with Peyton and she gasps, "Peyton Partnes? Brown wavy hair? Hazel eyes?" She looks horrified,
"I think so," I tilt my head, trying to remember the bitter face of her. Mia gasps again,
"She's like...the most popular girl in school! No offense, but why would she want to talk to you?" Mia demands. I shrug my shoulders casually,
"She wanted to give me a tour but I turned her down. Then she just randomly showed up behind me and bragged about her horse, then I walked off and that's pretty much it...why does it matter anyway?" I ask. Mia puts her head in her hands, shaking her head disappointingly,
"Jazz! Don't you see?!" I shake my head, confusion in my eyes. She groans, "When Peyton is either ignored, doesn't get her way, or is made a fool out of, she makes sure that she finds a way to make the cause of her problems'- in this case you- life miserable. She's gonna be out to get you! That was the wort mistake made!" Mia says frantically.
I laugh, "Don't be silly M! She's not out to get me," I laugh again, but trail off when I notice that she's not laughing,
"Yeah, she is. It always happens! I swear!" I look at her with a bored expression, "Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a noodle in my eye," I roll my eyes and can't help but laugh, and she joins in.
Our laughter quickly comes to an end as we reach the barn. The tack room door is wide open, however it's supposed to be closed at all times to make it cool in the room, "What the-" I begin, but cut myself off as I see Peyton walk out of the room, "Stay here," I mutter. Mia ignores me and walks next to me. She turns her head to look at me, and I furrow my eyes as we walk, "the tack room is always supposed to be closed to keep it cool, even if you're in there." I tell her.
"Then why was it open when she was there?" She questions. I shake my head, not understanding. Mia stays quiet as we approach the barn.
Peyton is casually staring at the schedule for riding, "Hey Peyton," I spit.
"Hi," she replies coldly. I roll my eyes and walk into the tack room, not waiting for Mia. I check my tack, and everything looks fine. I check the other tack. After finally convincing myself that nothing is wrong, I groan and walk out of the room, revealing a smirking Peyton and no Mia.
"Where's Mia?" I mumble to myself.
"Probably left to go back to the dorms," Peyton smirks. I roll my eyes and storm out of the barn and back to the dorms.

"Mia?" I question as I enter the dorm. She is unpacking more of her boxes and putting the clothes in the closet. Her back is to me and she ignores me, "Mia!" I say louder. She looks at me then looks away, "Did I say something?" I ask. She continues ignoring me, "Mia," I demand, "tell me what I did wrong!"
She sighs and turns around, making eye contact with me, "Why?" She questions, folding her arms over her chest,
"Why? Why what?" I ask cluelessly,
"Peyton told me that you hate swimming, and swimmers especially..." Mia says quietly.
"Peyton? That little devil!" I yell, and run out of the dorms and to the barn, with Mia following close behind. We reach the barn in record time, and much to my dismay, Peyton isn't there, "She must've known I would've come find her," I mumble to myself, searching around the barn,
"Wait," Mia holds up her small hand, "so you like swimmers?" She questions.
I turn around and grab her hands, "Of course I do! And I love swimming as well! Peyton made that up so that we'd fight and tear our friendship," I explain, "I never would do that to you!"
Mia lets out a small sigh of relief, "Thank goodness! Why would Peyton do that?" Mia puts her finger to her pink lips,
"Duh," I begin, "like you said, she's out to get me. Geez, your right, that's the worst mistake I've ever made..." And I was sure of it too.
I had a feeling that this wasn't close to what Peyton had planned for me. And as we left the barn to go do our nails, I swear I could feel someone watching me, and I knew who it was too.
Hi! Picture on the front is of Peyton, next picture will be of Mia. I hope you enjoy this chapter and I hope this little fight between Mia and Jazz wasn't too rushed. More fights and drama will show, I promise!
