He sighed and rubbed his face, glancing at the stars in the night sky.

He was late but he had thought she would've waited for him. Radiance was such a good girl, where could she have wandered off too?

Knowing her, she probably wanted to walk home by herself to prove shes a big girl.

At 42 years old, Hykll didn't think it would be this hard to care for another human being. Radiance was everything he could hope for.

She's the perfect experiment.

At 2 years old, she could read Emily Dickinson without hesitating. At 4, she had mastered piano and the violen.

However, Radiance... wasn't human, not even close.

I'd combined a bit of... science into her body as a baby. I feared she'd die, like the others that had come before her.

Anger swept throughout my body, how could she do this to her father?!

"I raised her like my own." I growled, kicking a can. I needed to come up with something and fast. Time is running out and if my calculations are correct, Radiance is coming into her true powers on her next birthday.

If anyone knew what she was... they'd take her away. I couldn't have that.

I stuffed my calloused hands into my beige pants, sighing softly.

It was late, I'll go to the police tomorrow. Giddiness filled him, he was going to make her into the perfect solider. 

A knock came from the front door, "Just a minute !" He called out and smirked, walking to open the front door.

A bang echoed through out the house and something cold pressed against his neck. "Got you."

Shit, I am screwed. He thought before he blanked out.

5 years later.

I glanced away from the book I was reading and read the time. 5:01. I sighed and stood up, my blonde hair tumbling down my back.

"Radi, it's time for dinner!" Jyke called. I stood in front of the mirror and placed my hair into a messy bun.

Time had passed since that fateful day. I'm not saying I'm unhappy with living here, it's just... I miss Dad. I'm now 12 years old and you're nowhere to be found. Did you leave me on purpose?

My hair had lightened to a more golden colour and Naira always trimmed my hair when it started to drag on the floor, my eyes were a lighter blue than before. I was almost grown up.

I stretched my shirt across my chest in hopes of seeing some development. 

Nope. Disappointment filled me, I was as flat as a desk. Fran said that I was still growing and to give it time,

But I'm very impatient.

"Radiance, don't make me come up there..." Jyke called again. 

"OKAY, I'M COMING. SHEESH!" I yelled and heard chuckles downstairs. 

I ran downstairs and saw everyone sitting patiently for me. I shrugged my shoulders in an apology and sat down beside Zaek. 

Zaek had grown up to become very cute. He was still such an annoyance, though. He had turned 17 a few days ago and he started to become 'too cool to talk to little girls'.

I'm NOT even a little girl anymore. Just the thought of him saying those words again to me made me red in the face.

Guys are full of bugs!

Zaek glanced over at me and I rolled my eyes at him angrily. He can go eat a worm for all I care.

After dinner, I told Jyke that I was going to chill in the meadow for a few hours and that i'd be back before dark.

I knew the pathway to the meadow like I knew the back of my hand. It was slightly windy and it blew my sundress a bit. 

It was pink with a soft bow around my waist. Perfect for the weather. I passed by trees, animals that scurried beside me for a little bit before leaving me to do what animals do best.

I contemplated playing with one but I did not wish to disturb its busy life.

So, I just layed on the glass, surrounded by flowers. The blue sky looked down upon me and I smiled.

A stick cracked beneath someones weight, I smirked.

"Come out, come out where ever you are... wolfy." 

A deep laugh told me I was right, it was Zaek. "You look absolutely ravishing in the grass, this wolf might just eat you up." he grins as he lays down beside me.

"Not before I beat you up." I mutter, not bothering to look at his face. No matter how cute he is.

"Remember when Dad took us to the beach a few miles away from here?"

I rolled my eyes, "... And my bathing suit top came undone?"

He chuckled, "Yup, and guess who had to search for an hour in the water?"

I felt my face go red, "Jyke made you!"

"You wouldn't stop crying until he made me!" 

I covered my face up and giggled. I glanced at him and saw that he was looking at me.

He sat up and so did I, Zaek started to braid my hair. 

"You know, Radiance, I've never met a girl so... so... impudent." Zaek muttered and begun adding flowers to the braid.

"W-w-what?!" I all but screeched.

I turned to him, "You're truly something Zaek, something unwanted." 

My hands on my waist and I huffed at him. He enclosed me in a hug, completely startiling me.

He hand't hugged me in years. This.. was new. Although, I felt safe in his arms, like... nothing would come my way to harm me.

"Stay safe, Radiance." He whispered softly in my ear. We stayed like that until dusk.
