I got home today feeling worse than I ever did. I felt like an outsider. Ever since Zahara started attending my school, everyone began to avoid me. It was like I wasn't one of them, which I wasn't, but I didn't like feeling that way. I threw my bag on the floor before entering into the kitchen. For the first time ever, my mom was home making dinner.
"Hi, how was school?" she asked aimlessly.
"Horrible." I muttered honestly.
"That's great." she wasn't listening, she never did. She walked around the kitchen pretending she knew what she was doing but it was clear she didn't. Half the things she bought were already made and all she had to do was remove it from its package.
"I'm thinking of looking for my real parents." I muttered suddenly.
She stopped what she was doing and stared at me. "What?"
"My real parents. I'm going to look for them." I pronounced. The kitchen suddenly became toxic and unbreathable.
"Why?" she choked.
"Because I want to?" I got up from the kitchen table and grabbed my school bag before heading up the stairs.
"Are you not happy here?" she followed me as I walked to my room door.
"That has nothing to do with it." I told her.
"It has everything to do with it."
"It's obvious you don't care about me so I want to find someone who does."
"That is completely out of order. I have given you everything you could possibly need, yet you stand here to tell me I don't care." She placed her hands on her hips and frowned. Her exceptionally clean apron hung from her neck and tied around her waist.
"What's Maddison's favourite colour?" I asked
"What does that have to do with anything?" She fumed.
"It's a simple question. Just answer."
"Majestic pink," she muttered reluctantly.
"What's mine?"
Her mouth opened but she didn't know what to say. I nodded my head and walked into my room, closing me door.
"That proves nothing." she roared as she knocked on the door. "Mia." she called as her voice died down, but then she left.
I just felt alone in the world. As if I ran away, no one would care to look. Everyone had a purpose or something to look forward to but I didn't. It's been three weeks since Christian have asked me to spend forever with him and I still haven't given him an answer.
But how was I to know if I wanted forever when I didn't even know who I was. Zahara had everyone's respect to the point where she seemed to be the Luna of the pack. I didn't know what that entailed specifically but she seemed to be in that role. No one came to me with anything and no one trusted me. I wanted to go out and find myself. Maybe go on a trip and see what the world had to offer me.
It seemed I only travelled to places in my dreams. I would fight armies and other creatures when I was asleep. It was like I was in the head of a wolf at night, watching as I fought battles and rescued others. It was the only adventure I got as of late.
I comb through my hair and braided it back as usual. I was starving but I didn't want to go down for dinner. I wasn't sure what I was going to do but I wanted to avoid my parents as much as possible.
"Open up," Maddison called from the door. I got up and opened the door for her. She came in with a covered dish and handed it to me, sitting on my bed.
