Pain shot through her nerves as her skin ripped open, small pebbles entering her wound. Tears ran down her cheeks as her pawns fell in the sand, her body sore. "leave me alone." She shouted coarsely.
He only chuckled mischievously as he kicked sand in her face, the game only getting better. "No one told you to play."
Tammia looked up at her classmates running around on the field, their game of tag uninterrupted by her screams.
"You're only chasing me" she cried.
"Because I want to" he defended, pulling on her short, sand-filled hair.
"Stop" she pushed, slapping away his hand. He reached for her again but she got to her feet quicker than he anticipated. She hit him hard, her hands falling to her side.
He stared up at her from the ground, surprise flashing across his face. She gasped when he smiled up at her, taking her off guard.
She wiped the tears from her cheek, sniffing involuntarily. She turned away from him and headed towards the entrance to the main office.
"I hate Christian" she grumbled.
