Bast and Nova were in the corner with their heads together, planning out Mindbender's interrogation. Every few minutes, Nova would make a motion like cracking her knuckles, causing Bast to chide her gently. When Oliver limped into the room, plopping down in a chair with a thump, they jumped, startled.

"So, how're we doing this, huh?" He questioned. Bast gave him a smile that sent goosebumps down his spine. "You'll just have to wait and see, hmm?" Her teeth were sharpened. Nova just looked extremely pleased, despite her cold.

The trio looked up as Caitlin entered the room with Cisco and Iris. Barry was standing closely beside Iris, arm around her shoulders. "He's secure," Cisco flatly stated. Nodding, Bast and Nova stood up and followed Cisco out the door. Iris and Barry walked to Oliver's side, their eyes hardening as they speculated at the other vigilante's interrogation plan.

"I hope they the beat the crap out of him." Iris suddenly piped up, startling the two heroes beside her. Barry shot her an incredulous look. "Iris, are you feeling okay?"

"Not really, he could've killed Bast. Not to mention he almost killed you," Iris responded coldly.

Caitlin interjected quickly, before things could take a dark turn. "Everything's set."

                                                               ...

Nova and Bast sat across from their mortal enemy, locked in one of the most intense staring contest ever held. It would've almost been terrifying, had Nova not erupted into a sneezing fit. Mindbender chuckled patronizingly.

"What are you looking so smug about?" Bast questioned, her tiger side showing dangerously. Outside of the interrogation room, Oliver's hand tightened on his bow and Barry vibrated warningly, pulling Iris closer to his side. Iris inhaled sharply.

Mindbender looked perfectly calm, his eyes looking lazily to the video camera in the corner of his cell, then back to Bast. "There's really nothing you can do right, is there?" He asked disdainfully. Bast narrowed her eyes at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"First, you lose your team because you're an incapable team leader, secondly, you can't kill me despite being provided with multiple opportunities, then you fail to reign in you dear protegee's rebellious tendencies, and not to mention being unable to allow your friend to kill me-"

"I'm still thinking about whether or not that was the correct decision," Bast interrupted, growling angrily.

"-And now you will fail to find out what I'm doing here," he finished. Nova snarled at him, coughing violently.

"Why you-"

Bast held up a hand to stall her undoubtedly ill-worded statement.

"It's alright Nova. He's right, I couldn't stop him from doing what he did. However," she said, leaning towards him, "You're wrong about me not being able to find out what you're doing here. You see, over the months spent tracking you, I found something rather interesting regarding your past."

"Oh?" Mindbender asked, mildly interested. Bast's lips curved into a toothy grin. "Yes. You see,  a friend of mine in Gotham was able to dig up something about your past. It seems you have a connection to the current mayor of Central City."

Mindbender's glare was ice. "It appears you were arrested by him ten years ago for major drug dealing crimes. You lost every shred of business while you were in prison, didn't you? This is a vendetta. The question is, how're you planning on getting revenge?"

Mindbender's eyebrows raised, just barely. "Bravo. If nothing else, your detective abilities have certainly improved. And here I thought your boyfriend was the brains of the operation."

Bast's tail lashed to one side.

Mindbender continued, "Since you won't be able to do a single thing about it, I suppose it couldn't hurt to give you a hint." He grinned evilly, his eyes leveling with Bast's and Nova's. "Boom," he stated, drawing the word out.

Bast's eyes widened. "You wouldn't." Mindbender simply laughed, making Bast sick to her stomach. "Where?" She croaked. Mindbender grinned again. "I always had a fondness for children."

Nova's eyes widened, and she rushed out of the room, Bast pausing to roar at Mindbender before following her.
The speedster crashed into the main room, not saying a word as she practically flew over to the computer, fingers flying as she typed furiously. Without warning, she eventually thrust the laptop into Oliver's face, a news headline filling his sight:

MAYOR HOLDS CHARITY GALA FOR CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL!

"Crap."

                                                               ...

The group paced around the room, all spouting off ideas about how to deal with their current predicament. Cisco especially, was concerned. "You're sure we can't just evacuate the building?" He asked.

Bast shook her head dejectedly. "No, the sheer magnitude of the explosion could wipe out the whole block. We'd never get everyone out in time. It took a lot of resources and time to dismantle the first one as it is. We can't just cut a few wires and solve the problem."

"There's got to be something!" Barry yelled, slamming his hand down on the desk suddenly. Iris slipped her hand over his, smiling at him gently. His heart did little back flips.

Nova was pacing back and forth, the carpet smoking as she picked up speed. Her head suddenly snapped up, a triumphant light donning in her eyes. "We could freeze it."

Bast, catching on, gave her a wary look. "If we don't hit it in just the right place, that thing could go nuclear. And even if you and Barry could contain the meltdown in a vortex, we don't have the ice necessary for sub-zero."

"What if we had a cold-gun?"

Cisco's voice was bright with excitement. Barry and Nova practically growled at the techie. "Like heck!" They roared. Caitlin edged towards the sedatives, hypodermic needle primed and at the ready.
                                                              ...

Captain Cold ambled down the streets of Central City, enjoying the cool night air. It would have been perfect, had there not been someone following him.

As soon as he found a reasonably dark alley, he darted in, gun a-blazing. His eyes widened as he saw the lithe form of Bast stalking towards him. "Please," She breathed, "I need your help."

                                                              ...

A few hours later, the team of vigilantes, plus one incredibly uncomfortable villain, were racing towards City Hall, breaking the sound barrier and probably a couple of Newton's laws along the way. Barry, Cold, and Nova exchanged threats the whole time.
