We sat on the floor of my bedroom. "What will happen to us after graduation?" She asked, looking deep into my eyes. "We stay together." I said. Our grade twelve graduation was rapidly approaching. "That's what you want, isn't it?" "I don't ever want this to end." She told me. I agreed. We'd been in love our whole lives and a couple for over a year. It was too much to throw away.

It almost ended the next year, however. We had applied to different universities. The distance was very far and despite being able to talk on the phone the distance started to get to both of us. Once we even talked about breaking up, but in the morning we tearfully made up and apologized. It was then that I decided what I had to do.

On January 7, 2021, I greeted her on one knee in the airport terminal where her flight had landed. At first she had no idea what was happening. She was overwhelmed with a wave of hundreds of emotions. I saw tears swelling behind her eyelashes and she mouthed one word. Yes.
