PRIMUS:Carmina

A trickle of sweat coursed the path between my eyes as I glared at the enemy blocking my way. I was breathing heavily and I was beginning to feel fatigue. I know that she knew this, she smirked at me. I coughed a bit to release the pent up air in my chest while my eyes roamed around; finding a way out. She had me cornered and it gave her the advantage to take what I’m trying so hard to protect; but I’m not going to let her take it away from me.

‘There!’ My mind yelled at me when I saw an opening.

With a flourish and a whirl, I charged. Faking left she followed and when she did I shifted right and got away; earning a couple of curses from her. I smirked when I had the target area in sight; I’m going to win this!

A couple more of her fellow goons came at me and I just dodged them fluidly. I heard my allies cheering for me from a distance and I wished they were close enough for me to pass them this burden; but I had to carry on.

When I was close enough, I saw the final obstacle standing in my way, blocking the target. I smiled at her and she just stared at me with a guarded and confused expression. I faked right but she saw right through me and steadied her position. So I used my signature move, I wasn’t called The Illusionist for nothing.

I reared my leg and kicked the ball to the left!

Well, she thought so anyway as she dived to the left side of the goal, catching an imaginary ball.

I chuckled as I retrieved my leg from the kicking position and kicked the ball to the right. The world did a sudden slow-mo as the ball flew toward the goal and suddenly it fast forwarded as it hit the net with so much force that it was stretched to its limit, with the ball still spinning.

The crowd paused and suddenly cheered when they had registered what happened. I felt my team mates lift me up and carry me on their shoulders. I lifted my hands and did a fist pump in the air! We WON the 2013 Inter School Soccer Tournament! Ha!

My team mates let me get down from their shoulders when it was time to shake hands. We approached the other school and shook their hands while grinning at them. They grinned back and gave each of us a nod and a “congrats!” Yep, it’s just all fun and games, no sore losers; we were enemies on the field but when the game ends, we were all friends.

We were ushered in the middle of the field where we will receive our trophy and take pictures. When we finished (with all the happy cheers, teary eyes, and our coach’s speech), we were invited by our coach to have a celebration in this fancy pizza place.

“Uh no, I’ll pass, my parents are waiting for me. It’s my Mom’s birthday.” I smiled at my team waved a goodbye. They smiled back and told me to wish my Mom a Happy Birthday for them.

I stretched my arms while walking toward my parents who were talking to my Homeroom teacher. I wish they were my real parents but sadly they’re not, I’m just thankful that they were the ones to save me that day. Hmm, I don’t remember much of my childhood since I had that accident nine years ago. They told me I had amnesia and I felt another part of me was ripped out. I remembered the way my eyes shook when I opened them and saw these strangers’ faces and how they were worriedly looking down on me. How they smiled and hugged me and muttering “Thank Goodness you’re alive”. I remembered how I asked them what happened and how their faces fell from my statement. They told me they were heading home when suddenly; they heard a loud thump behind their pick-up truck. With a baseball bat in hand, my father cautiously checked out the noise and he found my unconscious body. They rushed me to the hospital where it was stated that I was unharmed but then when I told them I didn’t remember anything except for my age (or what I think my age was), the doctor diagnosed me with traumatic amnesia.
