Beth's POV

"I have to go to the bathroom." I say to Bret as I stand up from the chair. He nods and smiles before I turn around and head to the restroom.

When I'm finished I open the door and start to make my way back to the table. However, what catches my attention is the sound of the shop's bell, which signs that a new costumer has entered. I stop dead in my tracks when I see who's just come in.

His caramel eyes scan the place and they quickly find mine. We both stare at each other, none of us making a single move. Is now that I'm looking at him that I notice the soft caramel colour of his eyes is gone. It has been replaced by a dark shade of brown, almost dark.

Finally, he makes his way towards me and stops once he's right in front of me.

"Hey." He says rubbing the back of his neck, his eyes softening till they go back to his normal colour.

"Hey, you're back..." I say a bit shy, because I don't really know how to look at him after what happened last Saturday.

"Yeah, I am." He nods. At least I'm not the only one uncomfortable in this situation.

"I'm supposed to pick you up, uh- my mum is busy." He says, biting at his lower lip. I stare at it in contemplation, admiring him, wondering, how such a simple action, can make me want to look at him forever and, deep inside, wishing that lip he's biting was mine.

I blush red at my last thought and shake my head. He notices me redden and smirks, any sign of shyness disappearing from his face in a flash. Then, he takes my hand in his and leans in to whisper in my ear.

"Is rude to stare, Beth." He says with amusement. When I step back a little to look at him, he's still smirking. In a way, I'm thankful that he can change the mood of the conversation, though now, instead of uncomfortable, is a bit embarrassing... for me.

"I wasn't staring, I was just thinking and you happened to be in my view." I lie with a serious expression and he starts chuckling.

"Sure, sure." He laughs and I cross my arms over my chest and roll my eyes.

"Is true, you idiot." I say slapping his arm playfully, as he continues to laugh.

"Okay, okay, I'll stop." He says, chuckling still. I turn my head to the side to not look at him and roll my eyes once again.

I feel him take a step forward and poke my side playfully.

"Oh, c'mon Beth, don't be mad at me." He pouts.

I turn to look at him and he gives me one of his beautiful sincere smiles. I shake my head in amusement and he takes it as my forgiveness.

He takes one of my hands again, pulling my crossed arms free, and starts to lead me to the door.

"C'mon, let's go. My mum is already cooking and I didn't eat in the plane." He says and I'm about to let him drag me outside when I remember Bret.

I quickly pull away from his grasp and he looks at me confused.

"Wait, my friend is waiting for me at the table." I say and his confused expression hardens. "I'm going to say goodbye to him and I'll be right back." I smile and he nods, not really looking at me.

Weird...

I go back to the table, where Bret is on his phone, playing some football game. When he sees I'm back, he smiles and pulls his phone away.

"Wow, took you long enough, uh." He says amused.

Thankfully, from where we are sitting you can't see the front door, so he hasn't seen the scene with Zayn. I feel bad for letting him waiting like that and not even remember I was here with him.

"Yeah, there was a bit of a queue." I lie. "Anyway, I have to go. They're here to pick me up." I say.

"Oh, alright then." He says as I pull some money out of my pocket to pay, but he's quicker than me and puts a bill on the table.

"It's on me, don't worry." He smiles sweetly. "I had a really nice time."

"Oh, I had a nice time, too. And thanks, for the coffee." I say truthfully. He was very sweet the entire time and he paid for my coffee.

"Well, see you tomorrow in class." I smile at him.

"Bye, Beth." He waves as I make my way to the door.

When I walk outside, I spot Zayn leaning against a black car, with one of his hands buried in the pocket of his jacket and the other one holding a cigarette. He's looking at me with a serious expression, the same one he had when he entered the shop before.

I walk up to where he is and he tosses the cigarette to the floor. Then, he opens the driver's door and gets in the car, while I do the same, taking the sit next to him.

He starts the car silently and drives off. He doesn't say a word as he drives and his dark eyes are attached to the road.
