Before this chapter I want to thank two of my best friends pilarmp_ and cristi_cas98 because they've been helping me a lot with the fanfic and some ideas of the story are actually theirs. So thank you ! ;))
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Five days have passed and today is Monday, first day of college. To say I was nervous was an understatement. Yesterday I couldn't even sleep. I spent the whole night rolling in my bed, trying to close my eyes, only to find myself staring at ceiling the entire time. I've always had problems to sleep when I'm stressed, ever since I was little. The difference is that before I also had anxiety attacks, but I learnt to control them so...
This morning I got up at seven to take a shower and get ready for college. I put my black sleeveless shirt with some dark jeans on and I applied minimal make up, which consisted in eyeliner and gloss. When I got downstairs Trisha had made breakfast. How sweet of her. In addition, she offered to drive me to college. At first I declined her offer because she has done so much for me already. But she insisted and said that she didn't mind because she had to take the girls to school. So I thanked her and accepted 'cause, let's face it, I had no idea how to get there.
So here we're now, in Trisha's white car, on our way to college. I think the reason that I'm so nervous is the fact that I'm so far away from home and the people I know. It's kind of sad that I don't have any of my friends or my family to tell them how it went my first day of college. I know if it went wrong and I was back in Spain, I would go to my mum and cry the life out on her shoulder. But of course, I can't do that here. I mean, Trisha is the nicest, but it would be too embarrassing.
Furthermore, there's a little part of me that believes that I will screw this scholarship up. I mean, I can speak English well cause my grandmother spoke to me in English and my brothers and my dad do too. Actually the only one who we speak Spanish with in my house is mum. But, I don't know, I'm so used to speak Spanish with all my friends and all my teachers and basically every other person I talk to in Spain, that I think I won't be able to handle the classes here. And besides, law is not easy. Too many concepts and rights to learn. If it is hard is Spanish, imagine how it will be in English.
I'm suddenly brought back to reality by a gentle tap in my arm.
"Beth, we're here." Trisha says smiling at me. I look out of the window and take a deep breath. "Don't be nervous. You'll do great, you'll see." She says with a soft voice and a reassuring smile. "I'll pick you up here when you finish, okay?"
"Yeah, alright" I say smiling a bit and getting out of the car. "Thank you so much, for everything."
"No problem." And with that I close the car's door and she drives away after waving at me. I turn around and look at the big building.
Okay, here we go.
*********
I make my way through the hall, trying to find my first class. I'm still a bit stressed, even though Trisha's words relaxed me a bit, kind of. I finally find my contract law class and I walk in. It's king of early, there's just three other people, so I take a sit in the front row and wait for the class to fill up.
Suddenly, while I'm taking my things out of my bag, a girl's voice startles me. "Do you mind if I sit here?" I look up to a brunette girl who is smiling at me and gesturing to the empty sit beside me.
"Oh, go ahead" I smile back at her. "I'm Beth, by the way."
The girl sits next to me and puts her bag on the floor. She's a young girl, around my age I would say. She has long wavy hair and big light-brown eyes. She also has light skin and a nice smile. She's actually very pretty.
"I'm Eleanor." She says. "Are you new here in Bradford?" She asks.
"Yeah, I'm from Spain. It's my first year here." I answer.
"Spain, really?" She asks excited. "I went there last year on holydays, with my boyfriend and some friends. We really liked it, the weather is great there." She tells me. "So, you moved here to study?"
"Well, yes I did. It's a bit hard at the beginning, but... Is it your first year too?" I question her.
"Yes, well no, I mean," she starts to laugh a little, "it's my first year in this law degree, but last year I was studying medicine and changed. It wasn't for me. Thought this would fit me best, so here I am." She tells me. "What about you?"
"My dad, he's a lawyer, so I'm following his footsteps. He always wanted me to, seeing that my older brothers didn't." We start laughing a bit as the teacher enters the classroom and everybody starts to shut up.
"Good morning everybody," He starts. "I'm Mr. Smith and I will teach you contract law this semester. This class is necessary for everyone who is studying to be any kind of lawyer. It doesn't matter if some of you are studying criminal law, social law or law and business... You need this class.
He explained what we were going to do during the first semester and how he was going to evaluate our work. The class finished and every student started to gather their things. Eleanor and I left together and headed to our next class. We had some classes in common, but she was studying social law and I was more into working as a lawyer for a company. So there were some classes we didn't share.
For example, I'm currently sat in my business class, which she doesn't have. The class fills up quickly and the teacher appears at the door and comes in. When she's about to close the door, two guys stop her and she turns around confused, but the moment she sees them she smiles. "First day and you're already late?"
They start to make their way to the tables laughing and saying "sorry" and "it won't happen again". The young woman just shakes her head and rolls her eyes in amusement, as if saying "Yeah, sure."
I look over to the two guys. The first one has ginger hair, blue eyes and light skin. He also has a light stubble that matches his hair. He's wearing a grey t-shirt with a red hoodie. He seems really nice actually.
However, the one that catches my attention is the black haired guy behind him. He has flawless olive skin and soft pink lips that I don't know why I'm staring at. His black hair is slightly shorter on the sides, but on the centre is pulled up. As the other ginger guy, he has a bit of stubble, but his is black. He is wearing a black t-shirt with a black leather jacket, which gives him the bad guy appearance. I look him over and I end up staring at his eyes. Those beautiful honey-hazel eyes are something I've never seen before. He's definitely gorgeous and those eyes have something to do with it.
He scans the classroom while walking behind his friend and suddenly, his eyes, which I'm so lost in, find mine, catching me looking at him. My face starts to blush and I fight to look away, but I just can't. He stares at me for a moment and then he just smiles sweetly and follows his friend to the fourth row, since there are no many empty sits left.
Wow, that was... weird, actually. I didn't expect someone like him to look at me that way. I was kind of embarrassed that he caught me looking, but his gaze was so intense that I couldn't find it in myself to look away. And there is no way I was expecting him to smile like he did. By the way he looked when he came in I thought he was the typical bad guy that knows he is so hot. But then the way his lips curved up in that sweet smile, I just don't know what to think of him.
And that's how the class goes, me just thinking about him with the blabbering of the business teacher on the back of my head. The class goes by with me not noticing and the next thing I know is that I'm gathering my things like everybody else. I can't help but look up as he walks down from his sit and heads to the door, not without turning around in the last moment and giving me another sweet smile.
