"I remember you. I never did forget you. I just thought you were a dream because that's where I saw you the most."
"That's an effect of the magic. We can't fully erase memories. We can only redirect them or store them in a different locations. I figured that after your mother had died that you could use a few good dreams."
This caused the princess to blush a pale shade of red because of how kind and thoughtful this guy was. Then it dawned on her why she felt the way she did when the warlock removed his hood. They have the exact same ocean like hue in their eyes. The eyes that had mesmerized her dreams for years. Had she fallen in love with this man that she knew only from her dreams? Then she saw it. Streaming through the treetops and the edge of the forest. The light of the setting sun. She rushed on ahead toward the garden to watch it set. The young wizard chased after her and yelled "This reminds me of the last time I took you home. The excitement you had to be home after being away from home for the first time. And the fact that you're still a slow runner."
The boy ran up behind the girl and swooped her up in his arms and speed to the woods border. Just as they raced out of the woods the sun was reaching the girls favorite setting position and they were met by the king and many of his subjects. The boy stopped running and placed the princess down before her father and bowed before him saying "As I promised sire. Your daughter has been returned unharmed and the warlock that threatened your throne has been dealt with. His powers have been stripped and he has retreated deeper into the woods. He won't be able to bother you again and I ask that you just let him be if you please sire." The princess says "It will be as you've requested. Your brother will be left alone. As you've already stated, no harm was brought to me and he is no longer a danger. I saw his powers get stripped and trust in you belief that he'll see the errors of his ways and make a change for the better. Besides I think that this is the least my father could do for you in payment for the task that you have completed for him."
With that the princess then leaned in and kissed the boy in tattered rags. The kiss lingered on for a few moments before the boys eyes began to glow. One blue and the other purple. The boy smiled and said "Mother was always the clever one. How she knew that I'd have to use the spell to relinquish mine and my brother's powers and that you'd then kiss me to restore them all to me until I saw a change in my brother and thought he was ready for them once again is beyond me."
"I talked to your mother once. The day she left you and your brother in my father's care. She told me that 'one day you might find yourself in trouble. When this happens just know that my son will come to your aide. He's a kind and caring boy that's always ready to help. One day he'll be able to do more for this kingdom than either us or your father could even imagine. But knowing both of my boys the way I do they may get in a fight. When that happens he's going to need you. For the two of you together will be the greatest thing this kingdom will ever know. And if he were to kiss you then you'd know that this part is also true.'"
As soon as the princess finished speaking the wizard wrapped her in his arms and kissed her ever so gently on the lips. What happened next placed everyone in a state of awe. The lights that shone in the princess' eyes following the kiss lead to everyone looking at the king. "When you were born we knew that you were blessed with the gift and that we wouldn't be able to properly teach you. Your mother and I sought out the most trusted practitioner we knew, who just happened to be a very close friend of your mother's. We asked that she bind your powers till she thought you were ready to learn and there was a teacher that could train you in a way that would aide the kingdom but it had to be a choice you made on your own. The boys mom seemed to know just how that would turn out seeing how she made the boy the key to unbinding what she had done."
After all this the king gave his blessing for the wizard and his daughter to be married. This could very well be the start of a new and beautiful era for the kingdom, but first she must learn about her new gifts. That however is a story for another day...
