it was a warm evening in february.
sai thought it was perfect to finally tell analeya.
sai'elle was pacing the living room like she was 15 and about to tell her mama she skipped school, not a grown woman about to tell her girlfriend the biggest news of their life.
when analeya came in, tired from work she side-eyed sai.
"why you look like you did something bad?"
sai swallowed her nerves, slid the little box across the coffee table. inside: a tiny onesie that said hi mommy, six pregnancy tests, and a pacifier tucked in the corner.
analeya frowned, lifted the lid slow. her eyes scanned the tests, then the onesie. "sai'elle, what the fuck is this?"
sai's voice wobbled but she forced the words out: "i'm pregnant."
silence filled the room then analeya laughed like a disbelieving, shaky laugh before her eyes filled with tears. "be serious right now."
"i am. six tests. my bladder hates me now but it's real bae."
her voice cracked. "after all that, you're really pregnant?"
sai nodded hard smiling, tears spilling too.
analeya hugged her so tight it felt like time stopped. "baby, i can't believe it's finally happening."

the next morning, sai & analeya decided to tell emoni.
sai pulled her daughter close to them. "baby, mommy gotta tell you something important."
emoni tilted her head, waiting patiently.
"well you know mommy loves you a lot? me & analeya both!"
"yes i know mommy."
"well, you're gonna be a big sister. mommy has a baby in her tummy."
"both of you guys!?" emoni gasped.
"no baby, just mommy! not me." analeya said lauging.
emoni gasped again. "does that mean i get a new friend?"
they laughed and sai hugged her tight. "yes, baby."
emoni kissed her mommy's cheek. "i'll share my toys... but not the baby dolls."
they all cracked up again.

2 weeks later, sai decided to tell everybody else at the little weekly gathering her and her sister had.
sai sat kali down like she was giving her the "don't snitch" speech.
"you say one word before i'm ready, and you losing best friend privileges for life."
