This is a personal project I've been working on, one that might not be seen for a WHILE because it stemmed from a dream I had once years ago. It's not like my other stories. It's not a crossover. It's just.. Nightmare. But he's not like any of my usual AU's.
This is an AU where the Corruption is a separate entity, but not at ALL like the common interpretations that make it a protector or an evil spirit or anything. No, this one was born during the Apple Incident. It was a baby with no comprehension of anything, consuming Nightmare entirely until just his Soul was left, changing him so utterly he cannot view himself as Dream's brother anymore. Because he became a completely new category of being, an older brother/parent to a new consciousness and a being of near unimaginable power. And a king wholly by accident. He named it Vael. And Vael took on his old purple while Nightmare became blue.
He is much larger than he chooses to appear. He can simply split himself, take any form he desires. Guardian in this Multiverse is a made up title for whatever entity he is that is beyond godhood. And he's hiding all of it as best as he can. Not always great at it.
But Dream is stupid enough to not notice.
