This past week had been busy, Simon's gallery is happening in two weeks, and so much has to be done before hand: Sofia asked me to find painters that are available on a short notice to work all day on Wednesday, and a cleaning crew Thursday morning, it was a challenge to the providers but those dates will be perfect for me. Because, the building will be closed for renovations and everyone will get the days off. And I'll be using the extra time moving and settling in with my new roommates. Honestly, I am kinda excited to be moving in with my best friends.
Sunday, after Faye's event, Alex and I had to help, well we actually fought with Lindy to get rid of some of her stuff to clear out the rooms and any space really for me and Alex. I was in literal a tug-a-war with Lindy over a dress, and Alex had to boxed and bagged up storage space so we can move it to an actual storage facility. It took us two trips to the storage to place her summer collection of clothes, old furniture, and other random shit - I mean prize possessions Lindy would call the junk. Another reason why it took us all day, because my friends were acting just like Sofia wanting to know everything that what happened with Simon. However, Sofia only got the information everything at exhibition. While Lindy and Alex got the some of the details after we left the event, where I was spending more time with Simon. And for the oblivious reason my boss will have no knowledge about it because I clearly was crossing the line by spending time with him outside of the professional level. But if I have to be honest to myself, I enjoyed Simon's company. A lot, actually.
After we made our escape of Faye's trap, we end-up at the Carlos's Food Truck - where Alex brought lunch for me the other day. I messaged him the location of the truck, telling him the half-truth how I was craving for those chicken tacos. Alex pretty much gave me a playful glare for not telling him that I was with London Boy late at night. I explained that nothing happened with Simon, we just sat on a bench near the truck, eating our food... and... talking... for a long time... When I finally clocked the time it was past two in the morning.
Our conversation was fill with random topics, we just flowing with no ends. We felt free to get to know each other. We learned about each other's families. Simon's father is currently enjoying his retirement from being a District Judge and his mother is part of the social etiquette, I'm not sure what that means, apparently they pretty much host the debutante balls at the country club that her family owns. Lastly, Simon has a younger brother, Bowie, a talented pianist who's studying at most elite music school in UK.
I was fascinated, but still felt small by his family, he talked about them like they're part of the royal family. I mean, I wouldn't be surprise if they are distance relatives. I try not to compare my family to his, because I know we are completely from different worlds. And I love my world, it is small but it's still mine. Simon turned the conservation on me, showing interest on my life. I got fluster from hearing him laugh at some my stories about my family and teen years; making me laugh at my embarrassment. Cause the asshole kept putting out my rosy cheeks. He said I have a nice laugh and he didn't notice that I have dimples.
Simon shifted the topic by asking me how my parents came up my name, I had to smile a little because it was actually my aunt named me. My parents were too excited for my birth, causing their brains to be blank completely for having name for me. Thankfully, the moment my aunt held me for the first time and saw my little face, she suggested that they should name me, Mercy, and they loved it. I guess, it gave Simon the confirmation that my family is extremely close like his. But it will be false. My mom and aunt aren't as close like other sisters, Jay said they just grew a part during their early twenties since they were taking different paths. And since my parents' divorce, their relationship gotten way better than them being married. Simon didn't make any jokes or judgment, he just never experience family issues before and even if he did - the issues were always handled quietly. His parents been married for over twenty years. The only question that he asked that continues to live in my head, Why did your parents only one child? And I didn't have the answer because I always assume they just wanted one kid. I don't know why I felt weird about it.
