Two Nin, One Win

The crowd erupted in applause as Midoriya ran through the gate, claiming first place. He was an underdog, so this kind of reaction made sense. Kakashi and I waited a moment before following suit. It didn't take long for Bokugo, Todoroki, and the rest of the students to file through until eventually everyone had made it past the first challenge. Bakugo didn't say a word; he was beyond pissed, and everyone could feel the tension in the air. Not only had he not come in first place, but he had fallen to fourth, definitely not the outcome he had been hoping for. I held my breath waiting for his emotional outburst, yelling and whatnot. To my surprise, however, it never came. My attention fell away from Bakugo as Midnight once again took the stage, announcing the standings after the first round and that only the top 44 participants would move on to the second round. The next round was then announced as a...Cavalry Battle? You're kidding. I glanced over at Kakashi, annoyed that we were having to do something so stupid, but he merely seemed amused. Midnight continued her explanation of the event. We were to divide ourselves into teams of 2-4 people, and each person was assigned a point value based on the results of the race. Simple enough, or at least it was until she told us that first place had been given a point value of 10 million. Making first place an instant win for anyone able to capture the band meant that everyone immediately started eyeing Midoryia. Poor kid.

"So Kakashi, did you know this was going to happen when you let him win?"

"Hm, now why would I do something so cruel Sakura?" He replied.

"Oh yeah, sorry, it's not like you're the same guy who kicked a bunch of teenagers around for 'training purposes." You would neverrrrr do something like that," I said, rolling my eyes.

"You all will have 15 minutes to form your groups, so I suggest you get started!" Midnight yelled.

With Kakashi and me being in the top three, it made sense that a few of our classmates tried to join up with us, the last of whom was Mineta.

"Hatake! Hatake! I asked all of them, but none of the girls wanna team up with me!!!! Please be my partner!" He begged.

"Uh, Mineta, you know I'm here to right?" I said, irritated.

"Yeah, but you're so muscle-y you're basically a dude." He said, eyeing me up and down.

"OH? Muscle-y you think I'm muscle-y? Well. Why don't I just SHOW YOU HOW MUSCLE-Y I CAN BE THEN!" I shouted, gearing up my fist to slam into his pathetic little face.

"Show me what? Everyone already knows you've got nothing to look at?" He said, not knowing the danger he was putting himself in with every word that came out of his mouth.

"WHY YOU-" I swung, but unfortunately, a hand caught my fist just inches before landing on the purple snotball's face.

"Calm down Sakura," Kakashi said, lowering my fist. I turned my head to yell at him for stopping me from giving this little shit what he deserved, but I hesitated when I saw him. For someone usually unbothered by such comments, he was surprisingly upset. His face was stern, and there was an anger rolling off of him that I didn't get to see often.

"Now, Mineta, why do you think I would possibly choose to team up with someone as incompetent as you?" He asked.

Ignorant as always, Mineta continued his proposal, "Well, I was thinking with your speed and my size, I could easily stick to your back with my sticky balls, and we could run away and avoid everyone since I shouldn't slow you down too much!" He said. He seemed proud of himself, as if that was the best plan anyone had ever come up with.

"Well, unfortunately for you, I was just about to propose a similar idea to Sakura here. So get lost." His eyes narrowed; he was getting more annoyed by the second.
