A typical day for Shinya Kogami began with endless visits to his investigation board. Today, like every other day, he found nothing new. He felt as if he had been going around in circles since he began, nothing ever piecing together properly. Part of him blamed being demoted to Enforcer; the other part was too busy hunting down the man he knew had to be brought to justice.
A typical day for Light Yagami began with endless plans to hide his deepest secret. He was Kira, and nobody could know, lest his work to make the world better be put down. Even after the man he feared most had been torn from the picture, he still felt the hot breath of the law down his back; forever reminding him of what he considered to be the foolishness of humanity. So many of them couldn't accept their God, so he had to prove to them why they should worship Kira.
Both of these young men are driven, but by different forces.

"Matsuda, you need to stop fangirling over Misa and get back to work," the brown haired boy named Light complained. "But you're L, Light; shouldn't you be conducting the case yourself?" Matsuda pulled a lame excuse. "You're so stupid, how did you even get on this case?!" Aizawa glared at the black haired idiot. Matsuda looked hurt, but didn't say anything.
"Anyway, we're conducting a test to try and find the Kira that Kiyomi Takada is communicating with. Since we've already confirmed the existence of multiple notebooks we must also take into consideration that he may have another accomplice himself," Light gave everyone the run-down of the current situation. "Do we know who Near is investigating?" Matsuda asked, finally bringing up a semi-important point. "Sort of," Light bit his lip in concentration.
The rest of the Task Force meeting proceeded in a similar fashion to how it always did. Matsuda was stupid, Aizawa was suspicious and Light was seemingly focused. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. An occasional random comment came from Matsuda, but they were used to that by now.
That night, Light was finally able to go home for the night, since the Task Force suggested he take a break. Light was exhausted, it's hard work pretending to investigate someone you know is yourself without looking suspicious.
Once in his dull room, he lay down on the squishy bed and took a slow breath. The stress of being Kira had gotten to him over the past week, and he was ready to sleep for a month while Mikami continued killing criminals.
The brown haired boy rested for a minute before going to the bathroom and taking a shower. Light felt his stress melt away with the warm water, and for the first time in a while he felt relaxed. He let his mind wander to the events thus far; the notebook, the Task Force, Ryuzaki's death, the appearance of Near and everything in between.
Light stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around himself, then towel dried his soft hair. He turned on the sink and splashed some water and soap on his face, couldn't have him getting acne when he still had to have Takada wrapped around his finger.
Since Misa was in the house and Light didn't know if she would wake up because of the sound of running water, he had locked his bedroom door before anything else.
Once he had finished in the bathroom, Light walked into his bedroom to change. He picked out an oversized white tee shirt and loose grey sweatpants to sleep in. He discarded the towel and pulled on his pants and shirt, then unlocked the door. It would be too suspicious to keep it locked all night.
As he predicted, Misa burst into his room as soon as the door was unlocked. "Liiiiiiiiiight!" she screamed and tackled him backwards onto the bed. "Ah jeez! Misa!" Light tried to push her off, but she clung to him like the annoying fangirl she was. He couldn't wait to kill her.
"You didn't tell me you were coming home today!" Misa nuzzled her face into Light's chest, much to his annoyance. He didn't show it however, since he still needed her to cooperate. "It was kind of a last minute decision on the Task Force's part," he explained, hoping she'd go with it. "Oh okay~ But you're here now so we have to cuddle~" the blonde girl pushed Light over and lay down next to him, beaming like an idiot.
'God help me,' Light thought. "Come on! We never get to do anything because you're so busy," Misa pouted. "W-well um," Light had no excuse.
With this, Misa slid under the covers and poked Light's shoulder. "Nothing naughty, I just want to cuddle!" she blushed, thinking of all the things she actually wanted Light to do with her. "All right I guess," Light hesitantly agreed.

"Kogami, you should be asleep," Akane frowned at the dark haired Enforcer that was for some reason still awake. "I could say the same to you Inspector," he replied without so much as a glance. "Actually, I have to be here, I'm working on a report I didn't get finished today," she replied as her fingers flew over the keyboard.
He couldn't argue with that, if she had work to be done she had a right to be there. However, he had absolutely no reason to be awake. If he told her he was still working on the Specimen case, she might get suspicious and tell someone.
Already on thin ice with the higher-ups, he knew it wouldn't be wise to upset them more. Being demoted to Enforcer was probably the worst thing that had happened to his investigation.
Of course, he didn't know about the glitch in the program that was about to tear their world apart...
