"There's something off about today."

"Why do you say that?"

"Nothing will be the same when they realize the other exists."

"Who?"

"Kogami and Yagami, of course."

"They have no idea of what is about to happen."

"Aye, but she does."

"She?"

"Kaya Faith. She will tear our world apart."

"Who will save the mortals?"

"Nobody, there is no divine intervention, only the cold hard truth."

"But we could help."

"But then how would they learn."

"I see your point, but we cannot leave them to perish."

"Unfortunately, that is our only option."

"Liiiight~" the brown haired boy awoke to his rather annoying fiancé's voice. He wondered how he had even gotten himself into the mess his life had become.

Previously mentioned blonde girl was in the corner, changing. Light looked away, even though he knew she had called for him so he'd see her in her underwear. 'What a pest,' he thought to himself.

"Light! Get up!" she jumped onto the bed, still clothed in only a bra and a skirt. "Get dressed," he muttered. "You're no fun," she pouted and crossed her arms, "Light we're engaged! It's fine if you see me in my underwear." 'I can't wait to kill her,' Light grit his teeth.

"Get dressed Misa, I need to go to work," he yawned and rolled out of bed. Misa smirked and gave him a hug (still half naked mind you) and ran off into her room. 'At this point I'd rather have Ryuzaki around again,' his thoughts drifted to the insomniac detective that was his worst enemy and closest friend. They had always known each other, Ryuzaki knew he was Kira, and Light knew he knew. It was only a matter of confronting each other, and Light got there first.

"Enough of this," he muttered. The brown haired boy got up off the floor and walked over to his closet. He chose something relatively simple, jeans and a brown tee shirt. Of course he was lying about work; he just wanted to get away from Misa.

He snuck out of the room and out the door, not thinking about breakfast, or brushing his hair, or anything really. Without Misa noticing, he ducked into his car and started the engine.

"You look terrible Light, what'd you do to get your hair like that?" the Shinigami known as Ryuk guffawed from the backseat. "Good morning to you too," Light retorted. "Hey, that's no way to talk to a god of death! Where's my apple?" he held out his right hand, while his left absentmindedly tapped on the leather seat. "Here, just leave me alone today, okay? Go spy on Mello or something," Light grumpily threw a ripe, red apple to Ryuk.

"You should watch your back..." an eerie female voice resonated through the small interior of the car.

"What the- who was that?" Light looked around the car. "Wasn't me," Ryuk chuckled and took another bite of his apple.

"That's a pitiful warning Faith," an equally eerie male voice replied.

"That's not funny Ryuk, stop now," Light growled. "I told you it wasn't me, or do you not believe me?" the Shinigami swallowed the apple core whole after he had finished speaking.

"The rift is almost open, I'm certain they can hear us," the first voice laughed softly.

"As long as the other rift is sealed you'll never succeed," a different female voice shouted.
